Not fighting a bum or tomato can, but THE #2 welter weight in the world?
Mindbat thats the thing about this fight that haters refuse to deal with. Victor is a live underdog against floyd. Versus anyone else coming off a layoff like this Vic is the favorite, including Manny.

God, you'll likely be considered a ***** and red k'd with the best of'em, but
yeah, they love to forget how Uncle Bob predicted Floyd would not fight Shane Mosley because Mosley was the bigger and stronger man and could beat him.

Bob has been about that fight ever since then.

            A few quick points.

            1. Floyd hasn't even gone for a year and half let alone nearly 2 years.

            2. Ortiz being #2 WW has more to do with the state of the WW division than Ortiz accomplishments at the division.

Cotto was #2 with a belt at WW when Pac fought him. And, a better overall fighter than Ortiz is yet the same people trying to hype up Ortiz don't like to give Pac full credit for Cotto.

            Which is ridiculous but whatever.

            3. What exactly makes Ortiz hungry? Was he not hungry when he fought Maidana? Was he not hungry when he fought Campbell? Was he not hungry when he fought Peterson? What makes him hungry now?

The Berto win? Is that it? Becasue, he beat an average over hyped fighter for a belt? That said fight won from beating a Mexican cop who got fired for taking the fight?

Floyd-Ortiz is a legit fight. No question about it. Is the most meaningful and best fight that can be made that doesn't involve Manny Pacquiao at WW.

But, both Floyd and Pac are on another level than the rest of the WW division. Both Floyd and Pac against anyone else at WW is a mismatch.

I actually think Bradley could give Pac some fits here and there.

Ortiz wouldn't be able to fuck with Manny. Even if Pac had a long layoff of a year and a half he would still ruin Ortiz.

And, Ortiz is nothing like Hatton. Except maybe that both got overhyped by some.

              By Percy Crawford | August 15, 2011

"I think Victor Ortiz is a beast, but I think Victor Ortiz is going to be taken to school like he's never been taken to school before in his life. I mean, Floyd has already fought Victor Ortiz," stated world-class trainer Jeff Mayweather, who shared his thoughts on the September 17th clash between his newphew, Floyd Mayweather, and WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz. According to Jeff, although Ortiz will be a hungry and determined opponent, he won't present any problems that Floyd hasn't already dealt with before. "He fought Victor Ortiz when he fought Ricky Hatton, and Ricky Hatton was a better version of Victor Ortiz," he continued, comparing Ortiz to a poor man's version of former jr. welterweight champion Ricky Hatton, who Floyd defeated via 10th round TKO back in 2007.

While Jeff is confident that Floyd will have no problems preparing for the style of Ortiz, he's also confident that there's no way Ortiz will be ready for what Floyd will bring to the ring. "Victor Ortiz has never faced anyone who is remotely close to having Floyd's ability. So with that being said, he's going to be taken to school, drowned in the deep water, and get himself knocked out," Jeff stated. In fact, Jeff is of the opinion that not only will Floyd be technically smarter than Ortiz, but he'll also be physically stronger as well. "They think Victor Ortiz is stronger than Floyd. He is not stronger than Floyd. Just like people thought Shane Mosley was stronger than Floyd and he was not stronger than Floyd, that's the exact same thing," he added.

"He's too smart for him. He can stand right in front of Victor Ortiz and do whatever he wants to do to him," Jeff concluded.

BE SURE TO CHECK BACK SOON FOR THE FULL INTERVIEW WITH JEFF MAYWEATHER

Jeff Mayweather, the only Mayweather that can talk some sense.

Agree with a lot of the things he said, especially calling Ortiz a poor mans Hatton.

But what the truth matter Floyd has already fooled a lot of you to think Ortiz is a top fighter.

P4P Ortiz doesn't make into the top 40.

He's hungry for BIG $$$$, that's all it is. He got rid of Berto, he's a Mexican, so he sees big $$$$ because he can fight both Manny and Floyd. It's all about money nowadays.

So we can expect to see Vic running headfirst into a ring post then? And like Jro says 1 yr 4 1/2 months is not "almost two years" by any metric whatsoever. And Floyd is a guy who stays in phenomenal shape, who didn't appear to be affected in the slightest by the almost two years of inactivity before the Marquez fight.

In the past they were plenty them but Floyd is clever. He faked his retirement and vacations to let the elite welterweights (Cotto, Margarito, Pacquiao, etc..) to fight each other. When the dust has settled down and the damage has been done to each them, he popped out from nowhere then fought a lightweight, a rusty old welterweight and now a junior welterweight.
