I don't think he was hurting Agbeko with the low shots, so I don't think they were as much of an issue as some think but he should have had points taken away regardless.

Bad job by the ref and this one is a fight he won't live down.
You say you are somehow involved with the sport and you say this? I think I have to question your understanding of what it's like to get hit in the hip, nuts and even the bladder area. It's not fun at all, and takes away from your legs almost immediately. Anyone who has been in the ring whether it's at the pros, amateur or even sparring can tell you this.
I wanted Mares to win too but not like this, I had a close fight but I began to feel bad for Agbeko and felt that Mares was undeserving at the end.

          LOL @ "honestly."

Honestly, I think you are ridiculous for even trying to pass this off as a victory....

it's hard to say mares legitimately won the title considering the ridiculous amount of lowblows and the corrupt reffing.

Look, I know what it's like to be in the ring for over 50 amateur fights but if you want to question me that's fine because I wasn't the only one who said this. A punch to the belt line is LEGAL. The rule book states you have to be hit below the belly button for it to be illegal.

In the fighter meetings the ref said that he told the fighters this. I'm not saying Mares didn't hit him low but most of those low blows were on the belt line and that's a legal shot.

I understand how much a low blow can hurt you and take your legs away, I'm not defending Mares in the least and have said he should have been deducted points for the low blows he threw. Especially since this wasn't his first time doing it.

I just don't agree with the morons that say he came in with the game plan to hit low, sorry I don't buy that. Mares isn't some club fighter or scrub who needs to go low to beat someone like Agbeko.

He did it, the ref ***ed it up but I still contend that Mares didn't hit him low on purpose and that most of those shots were on the belt line as well as some low ones were made low by Agbeko holding behind the head.

Neither do I but I also think Mares didn't stop because he saw that he got away with a lot border line low blows and let's be honest when a fighter gets away with stuff like that he's not going to stop. He eventually went lower a couple of times and the ref didn't warn him. During the second half of the fight there were some blatant low blows and as a fighter you know when you hit low.
