If it's someone who got knocked out 4x in his last ten fights (ala Roy) then I could almost see the point.

But people do it for anyone with one or two losses recently.

That is one of my pet peeves.
I know what you mean, its the either you are a top 5 fighter or you should never fight again mentality. Plenty of ppl Kermit could still beat but we have seen the best of him I am pretty sure.

Yeah, a diminished Cintron is better than a lot of people yet I suppose those guys should stay around to pad prospects records while he should quit.

Smith is pretty good. Not a bad win really.

Yeah, he's not the best, but it's not like he's Andrew Hartley or something.

ConNg**** to Kermit The Frog u officially killed a great season of ESPN FNF with a stinker of a performance! U went the distance with a C'class fighter! Ur not even. In the leaugue of the contenders in 154 pounders! You stank up the joint! Garbage, ur time is done! After the P-Will fight u just got mentally effed up! I can't believ u beat El Perrita! He must have been feeling sick that night! Cuz u couldnt even KO Smith! Retire and do us all a favor! Ur hand speed is slower than ive ever seen, ur power is non existent and Ronnie Shields shld just dump u and concentrate on his best fighter Lara! Lol! Maybe Vanes shld fly back to Texas to see Ronnie for a day and show you how to box son! Lmao! Ur garbage!

Cintron could be the test for some hot prospects, I could see him exposing hypejobs for a few years to come.

Smith has been a bit disappointing though he is only 24 and has some time to improve. I hope ESPN brings him back because he is a decent fighter.

You could tell the skill is still there, but the hunger and power isn't. May or may not be ring rust. We'll see.

He had his best moments when he kept his distance, which is how he beat Angulo. Trying to fight on the inside was ******.

Cintron did throw over 430 more punches than Smith. However, two of the judges cards were wildly off the mark. In my opinion I scored it 96-94 for Cintron, but I gave 4 of the last six rds.to Smith, if it was not for Cintron's early lead established in the 1st four rds. Again, just my opinion.

This fight has not changed my opinion of Cintron he is still on a downward slope in his career and its mostly mental weakness causing it. The three positive things that Cintron received from this fight is 1st he won the fight and 2nd he did throw a lot of punches (over a thousand) and 3rd he went well to the body which he has not done in his recent fights. On the other hand, he did not put a lot of power behind his shots, he seems to have abandoned what brought him his many ko's and that is his right hand. He has not thrown it much in the past several fights. Also, he seems to not be able to keep a game plan on course. He started by using his jab, reach, and distance, but by rd 5 his jab almost disappeared except in spots, he gave up the distance, and therefore his punches were smothered taking away his power. And Smith did not have to earn his way in, Cintron just let him walk inside without making him pay. Its not as if Smith forced Cintron to abandon his game plan of using his reach and jab. It seems as if Cintron threw it away voluntarily.

I also think Ronnie Shields and Cintron need to part ways. Either Cintron is not listening to him or Shields is not giving him the right advice. Either way this arrangement does not seem to be working. Anyway. I think Shield is basically fed up with trying to get Cintron to the next level. You can hear his frustration in his voice during the fight and in interviews.

In the end it was a good FNF with a good undercard

Ring rust? Dude has fought over 20 rds in the last 6 or so weeks. There are a lot of issues going on with Kermit right now, but I don't see how "ring rust" even factors into the Top 100 of his problems.
