Brewster is the best right now

I honestly believe that "Relentless" Lamon Brewster is the best heavyweight boxer out there right now: he got good moves, works both the body and the head quite effectively, has a very big heart, he can both punch and take a good punch. In the ring it seems to me he really knows what he is doing. Great sportsman with special tools.

Ya he's good. The way he steamrolled Andrew Gollatta really got my attention. I think he's one of the best, but Wladimir gave him heaps of trouble until he got tagged, so I'd have to say that Vitali could beat Brewster if that ever happened, based on Vitali taking a better punch and not getting punched as much as Wladimir. Of course, that's all my opinion.

I think Brewster's going to do that against slower, plodding heavies like Golota but he wont be able to do that to Wlad. He has good handspeed, and his guard is held really high in the early rounds of his fights.

Good point, but then Brewster's body attacks might do some serious damage.

Of the 4 current "Title Holders"

Lamon has been the most active in the last two years, and has the most impressive victories:

            (Since Jan 2004)

            Chris Byrd (IBF)

            Draw Andrew Golota
            W pts Jameel McCline
            W pts Davarryl Willamson

            Vitali Klitschko (WBC)

            W KO8 Corrie Sanders
            W KO 8 Danny Williams

            John Ruiz (WBA)

            W KO 11 Fres Oquendo
            W Pts Andrew Golota
            NC James Toney

            Lamon Brewster (WBO)

            W TKO 5 Wlad Klitschko
            W Pts Kali Meehan
            W KO1 Andrew Golota
            W TKO 9 Luan Krasniqi

            ================================================== ====

I don't think anything will be solidified until these clowns start fighting eachother, but Brewster has certianly been the most exciting and the most active in reccent memory.

James Toney will beat Brewster easily. I'm not that impressed with Brewster. Larry Merchant is turning this guy into a star. LOL!

Not saying Toney has a bad chin, but don't you think Brewster might unload a bomb that knocks him out? Brewster's left hook is tremendous.

I like Brew, he is a totally different figher since he got a new trainer after the Klitschko fight, a TKO victory I might add. His style is fan friendly. And he did something most champos won't do, go to Germany on Max Schmelling's bday and come from behind to beat the #1 contender in front of a hostile crowd.

                    Brewster won't fight Toney.

He grew up working with a prime Toney, and has already admitted Toney has battered him in sparring, and that Toney's his hero.

He said word for word: "I'd cry like a baby if I had to fight James Toney. How do you fight your hero?"
