I haven't learned my lesson and am gonna go against Hop again in this one. The fight will be close and entertaining, at least to those that appreciate boxing, and should see Dawson winning mainly due to his higher output IMO.
As much as I like being surprised by Hopkins, I think he's going against a hungrier, rejuvenated Chad.Comment

Lol. I will definitely laugh at all these people that spout all this anti Hopkins stuff and pump up Dawson like Hopkins has been terrified of him all these years. Regardless of whether or Hopkins was leary of fighting him these past several years, it will make Dawson look worse losing to Hopkins now given that Hopkins is damn near 50 years old. That is why you can't use the excuse that Hopkins waited until Dawson lost and looked bad to fight him because Hopkins' age balances everything out. But that is what all these people who hate Bernard will say. The same people who have been on Dawson's jock for all this time will jump ship and say he was no good once Hopkins beats him.
On a side note, the thread about Malinaggi being on the undercard is too far off the first page of this forum so I will give my two cents on that. They better have two other good fights to make up for that or else I'm probably not ordering the card as I was previously gonna do likely.Comment

Hopkins said on an ESPN interview something to the effect of "fighting Chad Dawson brings me nothing" or something to that effect.
I'm a fan of both guys but Bernard has shown while he is a fighting marvel that speed does give him problems.
Pascal is a technically UNSOUND fighter which Bernard has NO PROBLEM dissecting. Chad isn't Pascal not to mention he's fundamentally sound and has speed to keep Bernard bothered.

Hopkins fan or not, Hopkins went on Friday Night Fights and said without a stutter that he wanted nothing to do with a Dawson fight. After Dawson lost, then he wanted the fight.

If Dawson can't beat Hopkins when he is this old, then he just isn't as good as people pumped him up to be even while he was undefeated and it will prove that Hopkins would have beat him at any point in their careers.
A lot of people don't realize that HBO only gave 3 million dollars for Hopkins and Dawson to split down the middle after Hopkins beat Pavlik and Hopkins made 3 million flat to fight Pavlik. If not fighting a guy for that reason is because of being scared and not to do with the fact that the other guy just doesn't bring jack to table then please enlighten me. Still don't like the fact that Hopkins fought a Roy Jones rematch, so I have to criticize him for that. But even still, if Hopkins won't get credit for beating Dawson when he is this old then people have an ax to grind with Bernard, period.Comment

actually on Friday Night Fights, just a day before Dawson-Pascal, Hopkins said he wants to fight the winner.
Now he did say before Roy Jones that he didn't want to fight chad because there was no money in it, which was pretty much true at the time. A fight between them two would have done really, really bad and HBO didn't offer much money for it. It's actually better timing now, because Hopkins popularity has risen again after the two Pascal fights. Prior hopkins needed to fight another big name guy in order to get the kind of payday he was asking for.Comment
