Floyd Mayweather is not the huge draw he is today because of his amazing skills, it's because he plays the villain so well and is a master at selling fights. Beating Oscar De La Hoya was another reason Floyd became a PPV monster.

You don't need that to be a PPV star.
IMO Russell is the truth. I think he has the goods. He might be P4P level fighter. But, that doesn't mean PPV star.
B-Hop, high IQ, High leve of that beautiful form of the sweet science. But, never was a PPV star. Because, it takes more than that.
And, so what if he's a PPV star or not.
Being a great fighter, ATG>>>>PPV star.

The truth of the matter is, it'll take either a fighter with a big ethnic following, an American Heavyweight that's actually good, a white fighter that shows great skills, or a fighter that can beat Floyd Mayweather and/or Pacquiao to become the next PPV king. Russell is a great fighter and might become an elite but the odds are stacked against him to be a huge draw, he fights at the lower weight classes and he's black (excuse my political incorrectness, but I'm a straight shooter).

sadly with the rise of MMA I don't think USA will produce another PPV king for a long time, possibly never again. The real potential PPV kings are guys with strong national fan bases in places that love boxing, perhaps Canelo Alvarez

No one sells tickets like Mayweather, not tyson, delahoya, pacquiao no one beats Mayweather.
And, the nerve of you calling him an idiot.
F'ing Floyd fans, you acted like if he dissed Floyd in anyway. When really didn't. I swear one of the worse fan base of all time.

Originally posted by SWEETSCIENCE100 View Postanother idiot remark, Mayweather was not the first to beat Oscar, Bhop,Moesly, trinadad all beat him first, and none of them could sell PPV. Mayweathers problem was exposure, once people saw his skill level, they wanted to see more, his mouth and attitude only helped, but don't get it twisted, its his skill thats got him where hes at and nothing else.
So again another idiotic remark and very defensive again. Because, nobody is dissing Floyd here but you acting like someone is.
It takes more than amazing skills to being a PPV star. Believe it or not. Floyd hasn't been the only fighter to have amazing skills in the last 20 years.
