You may have been a graduate of journalism, but I highly doubt you were ever a practicing journalist since you don't seem to be aware of numerous cases where even highly-credible journalists released a news report based on mere hearsay and erroneous information. Why do these so-called boxing journalists write promotional crap like this and pass it off as legimitate unbiased news stories? I have a degree in journalism and was a legitimate newspaper journalist for six years. Under no circumstances would we ever take the word of a biased source as fact. The idiot who wrote this story is repeating the lie that Arum has been telling gullible people for three months -- namely that the Pacquaio/Mosley fight sold 1.3 million PPVs. To this day, three months later, Showtime still has not released the PPV numbers for that fight. Anytime in the past when a network refused to release the PPV numbers for a boxing match, that meant that the numbers were so poor that the network or promoter was too embarrassed to release the numbers. There is no way in hell Pacquaio/Mosley sold 1.3 million PPVs. Before repeating this lie, this journalist should have contacted Showtime to request the real numbers. If they refused to release them, he should have indicated that in the story and then said the numbers being quoted came from the promoter and could not be confirmed. That is what a legitimate journalist would have done or his editor would have never allowed that information to be included in the story.Comment

idk/i don't care if it's a lie, but factually showtime/cbs can provide much more exposure than hbo. 115 mil vs. 28 of potential public, it was thought pac-mosley was gonna do 3mil ppvs+ on showtime, but it didn't. now that the arum experiment is over ,they are gonna go back to hbo. this is also partly because of floyd. pac-floyd is going to be on hbo and nowhere else.Comment

So if Pac-JMM III breaks 1 million ppv buys, you'll do a mea culpa? Or as a former unbiased journalist, you will continue to slander Bob Arum in boxing message boards??Yeah, right! All the *******s are going to be shocked when HBO releases the numbers and they discover that this fight only sells 700 to 800,000 PPVs at the most. They will all be shocked and wonder how Pac/Mosley could sell 1.3 million when Pac/Marquez only sells 700,000. Then a collective lightbulb will go off in all of your heads when you realize that Bob "I was lying yesterday; today I am telling the truth" Arum was lying about the numbers for Pac/Mosley, just as he has lied about everything for the last two years.
If you were in fact a legit journalist, why the **** are you trolling on message boards anyway?? Seriously...that's pathetic because supposedly YOU KNOW BETTER!!Comment

What source is Reeno using for the ppv #s?
Last I heard Showtime had a hard time calculating those numbers becuz of their inexperience with ppv.
This is a clear example of a "media" outlet perpetuating blatant lies in order to secure access to certain en******.
Did Reeno gargle b4 he swallowed?Comment

as usual, *****s and haters in these boards have a hard time accepting the truth. why would you even doubt these numbers when you're talking about the most popular boxer in the world today?
you can also say arum is not telling the right numbers, ie, under-reporting them, to keep more money for himself. who the phuck knows?
any sportswriter can verify these numbers if she/he wants to. the thought that arum has power over anything is just fvking ridiculous.

HBO had to step up big. No way they let showtime steal the golden goose twice. I for one am very happy its on HBO. 360 ****** balls and the commentary on showtime puts me to sleep. Pac marquez will probably do 1.1-1.2 easy. Good move HBO.Comment
