Now back to the point. Who in he hell has Wlad or Vitali beat that make you think either one could beat Ali?
It's all really just a circle jerk argument in terms of who has this guy beat compared to who that guy beat. It's Circumstantial evidence to point to your or my confirmation bias.

We don't need to be talking about these fighters resumes, title defenses or hall of fame credentials.

All that matters is ability and then physical size. And if you match up a 6'7 guy with a great jab, who knows how to use it, to keep his opponents at bay. And a guy who's primary weapon is moving around a lot and expending a lot of energy, who also uses a jab.

My money goes on the 6'7 guy. I cannot see Ali outboxing Wlad, assuming both of them are at their absolute peak (ignoring whatever bad performances they had in the past).

Ali never fought anyone like Wlad.

That rope a dope bullshit won't work against Wlad.

      Ali can't outsmart Wlad.

Feather fisted Ali can't stop Wlad.

      Ali can't outbox Wlad.

Stylistically, Wlad is a nightmare matchup for Ali.

Wlad by UD or late KO.

Yea I am and apparently you are having a hissie fit, knee jerk reaction about it, unable to have a reasonable discussion.

Like, "oh no, how dare you try to make a point referencing a guy from the present and comparing him to The Greatest of the past" blah.

If you're so convinced that Ali is better and unable to counter more specifically than Knee-Jerk responses, then get out of the thread, nitwit.

Oh really? So liston didn't have an 84in reach? 3 longer then Wlads? What about Foremans 82 in reach? I guess Ali didn;t have an 80 in reach himself...

You ******s act like as if its such an undoable task to take on Wlads 81in reach... LOL.

          Wlad is 6'6 btw.

A 6'7 freak nature in the 60's could not move or develop the physique that the 6'7 guys have today. Usually being that size meant that you were slow and plodding.

It's a norm that a 6'7 guy can almost move like a point guard, and just as fast in today's NBA. You take that 6'7 guy or 7 foot guy into a time machine, and into the NBA of the past, and he will be ahead of his time in size-ability.

You are right about sports science being on a different level--that is impossible to dispute. We've seen that in every sport when we compare past greats to present greats. The physiques of the guys in sports now are on a different level, and I think that says a lot. The problem with this argument is that it almost exclusively applies to Wlad! All the other heavyweights are in terrible condition relatively speaking. Since that is his primary opponent base, how is it that he has fought equivalent opposition, or am I over estimating the conditioning of old school boxers?

You guys might be right about Ali, but what about Ali's career makes you guys think he wasn't fighting stiff competition? What is it about Foreman, Liston, and the others that makes them on the sam level as the Haye's and what not?

Wlad would have more problems with Frazier

Did I say reach, or did I say range. Because Wlad has range, he keeps his opponents at bay with his jab and straight right.

Did Sony Liston use his reach to his maximum potential or did he throw punches the equivalent of Ricky Hatton?

Reach has nothing to do with it if you don't or can't use it, just ask Paul Williams.
