If Ricardo had switched places with Juan Marquez, I think he would've been a mega star champion. One of the most technical boxers of the sweet science. At the higher weights, who knows what he would've accomplished?

His skills and talent are no doubt appreciated. Respect.

I was just about to mention his fight against Sorjaturong. Similar to what Roy Jones raps about, he made some people in his division look like no bodies it's not that his resume is filled with no bodies.

He had everything, Speed, technique and power. Nacho likes to emulate some of Lopez' attributes to every fighter he trains. His downside was that he remained comfortable at a weight and never bothered to move up. He was the real deal and now he's a pretty decent comentator.

but this is the thing, and i say this about calzaghe too... whether or not anyone of us think that his competition was weak and it was easy and " not that credible "...... he had to rise up against each and everyone of his opponents and do what was needed to win...... and he also had tough fights, he wasn't the favorite going into each and every fight, only when people realized he was a baddass did he become the betting favorite.

moving up could've been a move that got him more attention and media coverage, maybe, back in his day though, no one under featherweight got any real attention, maybe a bantam weight here and there, but it wasn't until barerra vs morales I & II did the little guys start getting the coverage that they should, the proper coverage at least.

anyways, he's a great, he rose to every occasion against every opponent, that takes serious mental toughness, especially if you're bored or know that your opponent is inferior to you, you risk playing down to your level of competition and lopez rarely did..... and he didn't carry fighters neither, if he had you beat, he would try and take you out....... thats what a real champ does.
yeah, I didnt mean it as a diss. I think he wouldve pretty much iced anyone

Yeah but unlike Calzaghe. Finito had perfect technique and when faced with a close fight that was ruled a draw against Alvarez he immediately rematched him and beat him. Calzaghe avoided Hopkins after their close fight like the plague.

His fights with Rosendo Alvarez were his toughest, and he was almost at the end of his career. Definitely the most gifted mexican fighter, his skills were textbook perfection.
