If Cotto boxes him at a distance, maybe he could build a solid lead, but his penchant for getting into brawls could haunt him against Castillo.

Cotto might be able to build up an early lead though, because Castillo doesn't jump on his opponents from the start. If Cotto could pressure him and get and early lead, who knows...Still, even if all those things fell into place, I still think it would be very hard for Cotto to win the fight.

As for moving up in weight, I agree, I can't see Cotto beating Hatton or Mayweather at 140. And other than those two, there's no one really left for him at 140. If he were to move up to 147 though, I don't know how much success he could have. He's a great talent, no doubt, but I don't know how well he can do against truly elite competition. Hopefully 2006 will set up some big fights for him where we can see him against top opponents.

Generally Castillo is a slow starter your right but keep in mind that he has struggled to make weight at 135 for a long time now and 140 is a weight where I would expect him to be much more comfortable and in turn get off to faster starts.

He got off to one helluva start against Chico on Saturday and I would expect similiar things as he is allowed to weigh in at a much more suitable weight.

Cotto is a bit mechanical and Im trying to think of who he has outboxed...he comes in with his hands up and is somewhat plodding...remember (people make this mistake too much) Castillo found a way to basically fight the great Floyd MAyweather on even terms for 24 rounds...boxing is not something that he is given much credit for and it is not only a shame but it is starting to get annoying.

Ask Floyd Mayweather if JL is a slow plodding brawler like many make him out to be.

Infact, is there a realistic fight Castilla, past or present, wasnt the favorite? Cotto is known for boxing, countering, swelling, cutting, and knocking out other people, all of which is Castillas nightmare...add another TKO loss to Castillas record!

I hate Julio Ceasar Chavez anf think he was a classless son of a *****.

Erik Morales has never done anyything for me, I was pissed when PAC was beaten and I was going crazy when Raheem pulled the upset.

MAB...I rooted for him against the Prince but nmot a real biug fan, he has my respect as most hispanic fighters do but if him and PAC meet again there is no doubt who I will be rooting for.

JL could have down syndrome and I would be a fan of his, hell he could even be yup you guessed it Puerto Rican!

cotto uses the strength of his punches to keep opponents off of him. i think cotto is a better fighter, but castillo is a stronger more durable fighter...plus cotto is still young for a fight like this

arums just talking. both are his fighters. and cotto is being turned into his cash cow.don't see this fight happening.

cottos power isn't proven to me. and needs his boxing skills honed.

i see castillo taking anything cotto throws and just mad bullying him to a win.

Fool quit lying. I checked and Vinny Castilla is not boxing, he's still playing baseball for the Nationals.
