I can understand why some fans were like that tho. Lacy knocked out Reid, and people know Calzaghe had a close fight with Reid before that. Kessler beat up Andrade like no other fighter has done to date, I don't really consider Bute knocking out Andrade early a beat-down compared to what Kessler did. I guess all I'm saying is I can see how the hype was there.
If I remember correctly Calzaghe and Reid had fought years before Lacy/Reid took place tho. So for people to think Lacy knocks Calzaghe brutally out just because he knocks Reid out was foolish to some extenet.
I bet Robin Reid felt like a clown when he was at the Calzaghe/Lacy fight to see Calzaghe beat up on the guy who knocked him out. Reid was probably envious.

his stats are so padded. and a couple of his bouts were gifts from the judges.
but after lacy gets by reid should lacy risk fighting over there.he'd have to knock calzaghe out to win.

He should never have taken this fight anyway he should have waited 2 extra Months until November. The announcers sounded like they were reading from a script when they started talking about his injury. Even Calzaghe predicted getting injured before this fight. He has never got injured before fighting any of the bums hes ever fought only Glen Johnson and Jeff Lacy.

Lacy is a dangerous fight for Calzaghe if he wasn't Calzaghe would have fought him already.

Whats happenin everybody?!?! I haven't been on BoxingScene in a few months, so I was wondering if anyone had heard about Joe Calzaghe pulling out of the Lacy fight just yet, the official over/under is February 1, which is quickly approaching, & I'm betting on the under, with a fake hand injury as the excuse....if anyone has any insight as to when Joey the Phony Calzone will officially be ducking Jeff Lacy, please let me know, thanx - SacTown1

plans B, C, and D....such as replacement opponents for March 4, I presume?
Lacy and Kessler? I remember seeing posts like that on this forum back in the old days. Where are those posters now?
I wasn't on here then but I remember HBO hinting around that he was maybe scared to fight Kessler and Calzaghe came in there and took Kessler to school. The Lacy fight was the first time I saw Calzaghe, I bet my friends like 10 bucks a pop that Joe was going to beat Lacy- they were all caught up in the Lacy hype and his bulky muscles. I made like 80 bucks off of them and I commenced to find all the Calzaghe fights I could. I bet on him every fight after that, he never let me down.
Calzaghe was one of the best boxers I have ever seen, don't care what others say, dude was VERY SPECIAL.
