Alot of leather?...Most of the shots were being slipped and smothered. And you say him getting mad about his opponents not engaging him is a bad thing..He's a counter-puncher. I saw 3 maybe 4 clean shots land for Miranda, and about 30-35 clean shots by Despaigne. Simple as that really.
My thoughts on Despaigne-Miranda.

Up to the point the fight was stopped, Despaigne was clearly winning. He was simply better than Miranda. Edison was just too slow and plodding. I'll give Miranda credit for one thing: he came to fight. Despaigne, on the other hand, came to win. It was clear from Yordanis's reaction to that feeble low blow that he was there to win by any means necessary.
The bout was entertaining, as long as it lasted. To say that the fight was "competitive" is being kind. Miranda never threatened Despaigne. Yes, Edison was throwing punches and landing on occasion, but he was being outclassed and outworked.Comment

Far from. rewatch the fight, I've watched it 3 times already for entertainment purposes. Miranda couldn't miss his uppercut and was landing to the body every time. In the third round Miranda is deducted a point a the beginning of the round, then despaigne doesn't throw a SINGLE PUNCH for the ENTIRE round and is hit flush several times.
i repeat, despaigne is a head case. He isn't discipline. I don't want to hear the counter puncher BS, the guy is only satisfied when the fight is being brought to him otherwise he completely folds. The problem with the TBR fight is that he got hit clean so many times and felt the need to go machismo as if to prove a point - just like Miranda. THey have different styles but the EXACT same frames of mind. Just look at the weigh in for evidence of that.Comment

Bro, there's a big difference with GRAZING/SLIPPED/SMOTHERED shots than there is with clean effective shots, which Despaigne landed many more of. i saw two clean uppercuts from Miranda that was it when it came to headshots every other shot was sliiped and/or smothered.. Believe me i rewatched the fight thouroughly. Just because miranda is coming forward throwing punches does NOT mean he's being effective. Despaigne wasn't throwing much in that round because he was reading Miranda and figuring him out, that's what counter-punchers DO. watch carefully, every time Miranda throws Despaigne moves with the shot and either completely blocks it or slips it. Despaigne was in control, and appeared to be fully relaxed and comfortable with what was going on in the ring. I'm not saying Despaigne is some huge talent, but he does have talent and potential nonetheless. and he was beating a worndown Miranda quite easily and i do not see what miranda could of done in the second half of the fight cause his power didn't seem to be there to me at all.Comment

One judge had the fight even AFTER the points were deducted.
The other two judges had Depainge up by 2 (which were the 2 points deducted).
Miranda was on his way to a victoryComment

Pantera, that's because the judges were in Miranda's favor, because there's no way you could have that fight even, especially after the point deductions which i agree were not quite fair. nonetheless i gave Miranda 1 round out of the first 4 1/2 rounds. I mean there's just no way you could give him anymore than that unless you are severely biased in Miranda's favor. Despaigne outdid him in every single aspect. Full stop, there's no way to argue it unless it's with bias.Comment

Judges were far from in Miranda's favor. Ref is part of the officials and you see where his head was. Crowd was in favor of Miranda because he lost the first round and then came back strong. You could see it in Depainge's face. The body shots were getting to him. I have no doubt that if the fight continued Miranda was going on to victory. It was a bull**** stoppage and a shame for boxing. It was turning into a classic.Pantera, that's because the judges were in Miranda's favor, because there's no way you could have that fight even, especially after the point deductions which i agree were not quite fair. nonetheless i gave Miranda 1 round out of the first 4 1/2 rounds. I would like to see a rematch because Miranda was getting to him and with his power you just never know what would have happened.
The ref shouldn't have took a point of for the first low blow, a warning would have been enough.Comment

right when the fight started to actually happen, dracualich* stopped it....
miranda has a stigma about him after the abraham 1st fight..... and i think the ref held that in his mind, because after the first low blow after the bell, he should've given a warning not taken a point away, and even after taking the point away he never warned miranda after that, nothing..... just another point then the douchebag STOPPED THE FIGHT IN MID ACTION!!!! WITH NO WARNING!?!?!?
he could've stopped the action and said, " one more low blow and i have no choice but to stop the fight "
despaigne got a gift win in that fight because miranda had taken his best shots, with his hands down, and was walking through them, and miranda was stepping up his attack, applying pressure and making the fight happen...
someone needs to get in the refs ass over this.............. clearly he wasn't thinking right after his performance form last week.........
not sure who would've won had it gone the distance, but one thing i do know, is that ALL OF US WERE CHEATED OUT OF A FIGHT THAT WAS SHAPING UP TO BE A GOOD ONE!!!. THANKS VIC THE DIC.........DRACULICH.....Comment
