  • I don't know anyone that became a fan of boxing because of Floyd Mayweather. There are so many African-Americans who have experienced great success in boxing. Sure you have nuthuggers who have latched onto Floyd, but he isn't the reason they are watching boxing currently nor is he the reason they started watching boxing.

With the vast majority of Pacquiao diehards, he is the reason they are fans of boxing. He is the reason they are currently watching boxing and he is the reason they started watching boxing.

Personally I feel the vast majority of Pacquiao fans HAVEN'T seen him lose in real time. I draw this conclusion by join dates on the various boxing blogs and the sheer volume increase of Pacquiao fans posting on boxing related sites over the past 3 or so years. It doesn't mean he was absent of a fanbase prior to 2006 or so, but a large number of Pacquiao diehards have not seen Pacquiao lose.

Based on those things, I feel that a loss by either fighter would be a painful blow to each respective "sides" ego. However, I feel the Pacquiao fanbase would essentially be a nation in mourning and take it much much harder.

a lot of *******s are bandwagon fans...the moment he loses, they'll just jump right off and find something else

the ones that will be bothered most are the fans that followed him come up the ranks

          • Soeaking for myself..i feel that the floyd fans will take it harder.

Onky because weve followed his career and he seems to be unbeatable at times so I cant imagine him losing anytime soon. So if he lost id really be shocked. Manny not so much

Its obvious that the Pac fans would take it the worst. Look how they respond to anything pro Mayweather, they spew hate, racism specifically. You think after Floyd beats the breaks off their messiah their demeanor and level of respect for non pinoy boxers will change? Hell no.

However, perception of who would take it the worst will lack accuracy due to 2 things.

              1. If Pac loses, his fans will find a new messiah to follow likely outside of boxing and their numbers will dwindle away from the forums. We wont see them posting the same BS they been posting for so long cause they wont give a **** about boxing anymore.

              2. If Floyd loses it will seem as though the fans are truly bothered, but that will be due to the fact that they will still be here and having to deal with rabid Pac fans, in the most annoying way. They are hateful and racist enough, just imagine how it would be if the unlikely happened and Pac won. Hell, or even looks good against Floyd.

The main difference that the Floyd fans will still be boxing fans win or lose. If Floyd died tomorrow most would still be boxing fans. So the loss would be more apparent due to the fact that the floyd fans wont disappear like the Pac fans will.
