Does anyone really believe Cotto ever had a chance against either FMJ or Manny?

People thought he had a chance but I never did. I remember the signs asking for Pac and Mayweather and I would laugh.

I said the same thing about Marg, I knew he had no chance even before he fought Mosley.

Cotto has only struggled and lost fights when it is fought at a pace and tempo that he is not comfortable with. We know this would not happen against floyd.

This being said...do I think floyd would figure out and beat cotto in a different way? More than likely...but I also am an agreement with the guys that say pre-margs cotto would give mayweather a very tough fight, you have to remember, out of the three of them (cotto, pac, floyd) cotto beat by far the best version of Shane, that is a great accomplishment. I think floyd would have had issues with cotto because cotto has a great jab and has great body work, but ultimately you have 2 thinking fighters, one with great technique, speed, skill, defence, and the other guy who is only very good at most of this things.

The one thing I know for sure though...the fact that fight didn't happen is a black mark on floyds resume for sure.

Cotto would have got the brakes beat off him. Cotto was to slow of hand and foott. For the record the word "GREAT" gets tossed around too easy. Cotto had a decent jab never had a great jab.

You are right about beating Cotto beating Shane in 2007. And you are right that Floyd should have fought him.If that is the case then you cannot deny that all of Pac's fights since Cotto have been complete bull****. I consider those just as bad.

cotto pre-marg would never have been competitive with floyd and pac.

cotto just isn't on their level.

                but that's not the point.

cotto was a top welterweight when he fought pacquiao and when floyd was the champion at welterweight.

whether he had a chance or not is not the point.

he was a top welterweight and deserved a fight with either.

He probably wouldnt have beaten Mayweather but I think you guys arent giving him enough credit.

He has never lost a fight by being outboxed, he has just lost from being pressured and beaten up.

wtf? Cotto's Jab is one of the best in boxing.... If Cotto isn't a 'Great' fighter or is an 'Overrated' fighter why do people keep making these ****** threads about him? If you think Cotto is overrated and not great your clueless. The manny fight isn't relevant in My eyes because of a pus.s catchweight. There was clearly reason why Roach wouldn't fight him at 147 so don't say otherwise. Cotto's fought the best fighters out there and never turned down any of them. He's only lost to a cheater and a catchweight overrated fighter on PED's.

he's good but he's just not good enough against elites like mayweather and pacquiao.

                      floyd would have schooled him.
