No you can act civilized outside of the ring, but still kill your opponent mentally before the first bell rings on fight night.... There's nothing wrong with going hard at your opponent and killing all confidence before they step foot in the ring. Tyson even said that his opponents were beat before they even threw the first punch. Tyson/Ali were great at this...
Regarding your statement about the media, Mayweather is already labeled negatively in the media anyway, so it really doesnt matter.Comment

I hope so... I think it does something to his opponents mentally. It somehow gets them out of their game plan and makes them lose discipline.
But it's not just that. I think the trash talk motivates Mayweather and gives him more incentive to back up his words in the ring...Comment
