Ontario is certainly an area that would favor MMA. Especially since that GSP dude is from there. Hopkins/Pascal was in Montreal, virtually a different country from the rest of Canada. Other than Montreal, MMA is favored in majority of Canada.

Also Sky hype a fight pretty well imo, their boxing coverage is very good. I don't hear the same about the US. The promoting there, especially TopRank is abysmal, Dana White criticised Bob Arum in this aspect and even claimed that TopRank were copying the UFC in some aspect because they know that they are behind.

Marketing is very powerful, I feel if the promoters put more money in this they would reap bigger profits in the future and it'd be benefical to the sport. GoldenBoy are the only promotional company which I legit respect when it comes to this. Don King has slipped big time, Shaw/DiBella suck and Top Rank are second best but inhouse Bob is harming the sport.

Not sure if many will be household fans but if you're a boxing fan there's a lot to be excited for and just hope the media and casual fan follow.

As for UFC I can't understand how anyone could say it's growing. It seems like each ppv they have, there is less hype, and the numbers don't seem to progressing, more like regressing. UFC has established itself but it seems like it has peaked, don't see it growing tbh.
In the last few years a couple UFC cards have done over a million pay per view buys. MMA has grown a lot, Lesnar won't be fighting till next year at the earliest by then we will know if MMA has peaked or it's still growing.

When I watch Boxing cards I don't really look forward to the undercard fights only for the main event usually. But in MMA whether it is Strikeforce or the UFC I look forward to the undercard fights and the main event.

Both Sports are great. I think Boxing and MMA one day will be as popular as each other.

I can honestly say I have never seen Bisping or Hardy on tv only watch them on the UFC or through specific YouTube channels. Only diehard MMA fans know these guys.

Khan is regularly on TV and hes huge here. He says some ****** stuff sometimes and his actions are questionable but in the ring hes class, he has a lot of heart and people respect that. People are warming to him, a lot of people here hated him after the Prescott fight because of the hype but now they see that he is beating a lot of supposedly good fighters.
Great post that's how I thought it would be, in different countries Boxing and MMA are more popular. In Brazil it's clear that MMA is more popular, so it depends where it is.

He is based in Montreal. Montreal has always been a huge fight town. It started when they hosted the huge Sugar Ray Leonard V Roberto Duran fight and hasn't let up. Montreal, big fight town. Rest of Canada, not so much.

the competion with mma has forced boxing promoters to put together better match ups....

                better matchups=better fights=better competition=better fighters....

                or something like that

Id have to agree with u. The sweet science is definitely picking up steam. I like the ufc also but it cant touch boxing. They are pretty much totally different in my eyes. As a boxing fan i have never felt threatened by ufc and i dont see why people try to bash it. Two dudes throwing down in a ***ing cage...whats not to like?

[B]Actually UFC has peaked and is on the decline now. Thier showing the same old guys over and over, and thier PPV buys are declining rapidly, and thats with maximum promotions, avdertising on tv,billboards, bars, you name it, and thier still declining. Boxing my friends is here to stay for as long as the human race exist. Boxing has minimal advertising until theres a fight like Mayweather or Pacquiao going on. We only have HBO,SHOWTIME,ESPN. You see boxing promotes itself. True boxing fans will never stop watching boxing. Now boxing can be put on another level if it were to be put back on regular national tv, NBC,ABC,CBS,FOX like it was along time ago.

I really wish they would put boxing back in the school systems. Imagine being in middle school again and having these options to represent your school,Football, basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, swimming, wrestling, and then BOXING! Imagine being able to get a scholarship from boxing at any highschool. How many champions would we have in the USA? This would never happen because all other team sports would suffer. Most of the truly athletic would go after the glory of being a champion, especially after knowing they dont have to depend on getting drafted. That thier professional career depends entirely on them dedecating themselves to the sport. All the bad boys who hate school would stay in school if they were exposed to boxing in there highschool. Just my opinion.[/
