Is Boxing regaining some ground again?

I believe that from 2006 until last year boxing was really on a low point only fighters like Pacquiao, Mayweather and Haye kept it in the limelight. Many people I've read were really turned off after fights like DLH V Mayweather where the fight was built up so much but then ended up being a huge disappointment. There weren't many up and coming stars coming a long, those that were had been defeated and hadn't regained some of that momentum back (Khan/Ortiz).

I really do think boxings decline during those 4-5 years allowed organisations like the UFC to flourish because it is like boxing used to be. Raw emotions, clash of personalities, the big names fighting each other. Now, with fights like Khan v Maidana, Ortiz-Berto, Pacquaios continual rise, Mayweathers return to fight a young and hungry guy in Ortiz. It feels like its on the up.

Guerrero/Khan/Ortiz/Pac/Froch/Kessler/Canelo/Hopkins/Mayweather (although he is at times what is wrong with the sport, hes also excellent at what he does) are putting it back up there. The UFC has stagnated since the Cain v Brock fight IMO, I am an MMA fan so don't think im trying to bash MMA here but my favourite sport has to be the sweet science of Boxing.

Im positive about the future. Looking forward to some good fights!

Maybe in the UK. I can't really comment on the US. Sky are showing boxing almost every Saturday night at the moment and we've got a few champions. It seems like MMA is growing here, though. I don't know if that's actually affecting boxing.

You make some good points I think Lesnar mainly has helped MMA in particular the UFC to grow in popularity in the last few years, other fighters helped too though. Cain himself is more well known after beating him. I think Boxing is getting more attention again, it depends where though.

Throughout Europe especially Haye vs Wladimir was a huge fight. About 16 million people viewed the match just in Germany, there are a lot of great fights in both Boxing and in MMA coming up I'm also a fan of both Sports!

I don't live in England but I'm sure Boxing is a lot bigger there, they have Hardy and Bisping in the UFC who aren't as big names and they aren't as good as the Boxers England has.

In Boxing England has Froch, Haye and Khan even if MMA is growing it's gonna take a while for it to catch up there. In America I'm not sure it's close but MMA is growing a lot.

The Ferittas and Dana have helped MMA grow a lot, they invested in the UFC and MMA has gotten very popular.

I know when I was in Ontario around the time of the first Hopkins/Pascal I didn't see a single bar advertising that but saw loads advertising whatever the UFC was at about that time. That was pretty annoying.

I wonder who will take over as "cash cow" of boxing after FMJ and MP retire?

That's really going to dictate a lot for boxing...

Seems about the same to me. The one thing I do notice is, or it seems like boxing is starting to get more talent as of late. There's a lot of young faces, none have really separated from the pack but you can tell there will be some stars in the years to come. Not sure if many will be household fans but if you're a boxing fan there's a lot to be excited for and just hope the media and casual fan follow.

As for UFC I can't understand how anyone could say it's growing. It seems like each ppv they have, there is less hype, and the numbers don't seem to progressing, more like regressing. UFC has established itself but it seems like it has peaked, don't see it growing tbh.

England is a BIG boxing country. I mean Khan was a household name here before he even turned pro, Lennox Lewis/Prince Naseem/Frank Bruno are huge here, everyone knows about them. They're on TV a fair bit, not as much nowadays but still occasionally on SkySports or some tv interviews and these guys retired a long time ago. I can honestly say I have never seen Bisping or Hardy on tv only watch them on the UFC or through specific YouTube channels. Only diehard MMA fans know these guys.

Khan is regularly on TV and hes huge here. He says some ****** stuff sometimes and his actions are questionable but in the ring hes class, he has a lot of heart and people respect that. People are warming to him, a lot of people here hated him after the Prescott fight because of the hype but now they see that he is beating a lot of supposedly good fighters.
