Alvarez resembles Oscar's facial structure too much, does Alvarez know who his real father is? Even his body structure is very smilar to Oscars... How freaky...

Sebastian: Respect to you for using your head in your analysis and not harping away on a single loss vs. Cotto. Listen, I know both of these guys well. I am good friends with Alfonso and with Vanes. I know their games pretty well. I spend lots of time in gym with Vanes at WC in Hollywood. I think Vanes said it best on some website. He said go to Gomez first and IF you make it through I will be waiting. I honestly don't think Saul O' Alvarez will beat Fonso. If he does I guarantee you that Vanes beats Saul. I told Alfonso 4 years ago that next to Manny, the best fighter I see at WC is Vanes. Threre are other excellent fighters- now with Amir, etc. Vanes beats Saul if he gets by Fonso and that ain't gonna happen.

Sorry AD, I gave part of my response to you in reply to sebastian. The business of boxing is not rational in terms of pure sport. Lots of odd and arbitrasry things. Fonso said at the press conference, there are others in this weight division more deserving of this shot and he feels bad for them. He said up front, I know they have me in this spot because they don't fear me knocking out their boy O'Alvarez. Fonso is a sharp and bright bulb!!! But he added, I am not in this to be the opponent, put in a good showing and go home happy for the opportunity. He said I will KO Saul. I am gonna take this belt. I believe him. Ask around and MANY respectable voices in this game will tell you this is a WINNABLE fight for Alfonso. He needs to get in his zone and stay there and he will upset this kid.

Ask Miguel who he thinks will win PR Boxing Cotto? He has seen Alfons past that loss and he knows some nights it isn't right. I respect Miguel and I doubt he would just discard ALfonso's chances because of the loss that evening. ?

Gomez is OK, he might even win, but he fits a pattern. Canelo always fights guys that are statistically handicapped. They are moving up in weight, or over thirty and tried, or unknown no hopes. He's beat every one up til now, and Gomez fits that profile. Alvarez is a cash cow and he'll keep getting milked, so I have to hope that Gomez does some damage as he gets used. Make Alvarez pay, go for the face, leave a mark. Alvarez is too strong and body punching will be ineffective for Gomez. Gomez needs to bust an eye or two and try to bleed him and force a stoppage.

                      he has crazy experience
and has some decent wins on his CV

this should be much more competitive than the ndou, baldomir, rhodes, and hatton fights.
alfonzo has some skills and a bit left in the tank
he's fought bigger guys than canelo

and he's only been stopped once and that was by a hall of famer at the top of his game named miguel cotto

still an easy win for canelo more than likely
but he will be getting good experience with a guy like gomez

you do not want your 20 year old star in the making taking a beating
he wont be in with any punchers until his pay scale goes up
and they've had some time to make their money before they can see if he will sink or swim

and they may never let him in there with a pure boxer
                      he doesn't have the style
                      Good post man.

Folks are sleeping on Gomez, even though Canelo could win well.

My guess is this will be an entertaining fight and a good step for Alvarez in the learning curve that is boxing. Gomez will have his moments and he will ask some questions..... but then again, I said that about Zab

                      WARRR Canelo !!
