            Totally agree with ICEMAN here.

And Angelo Dundee learned everything he knew from Charlie Goldman. So if you pick Dundee and not have Goldman ahead of him, it doesn't make much sense.

Goldman took Rocky Marciano when Rocky was extremely raw material and moulded him into the only ever undefeated world champion, Rocky was so raw that he just could not jump rope at all for a while and it took him a long time to be able to even work the speed bag. Goldman had like 300+ pro fights, so he knew the ring inside-out. Rocky wasn't the brightest guy, so he just did everything that Goldman asked him to do and you can't you say it didn't work because the guy never lost. I think it's important that a trainer has actually been in the ring himself and gained real-life, first-hand experience.

Jack Blackburn did an unbelievable job with Joe Louis, basically Louis is the most perfect fighter I've ever seen and Blackburn created that.

Cus D'Amato probably had the best boxing brain for somebody who never actually fought as a boxer, LaMotta came to him for advise before his second fight with Robinson, Ali came to him for advise before his second fight with Frazier and before the Foreman fight. Cus was apparently the grandmaster at turning useless bums into New York Golden Gloves winners. It's a fact that more New York Golden Gloves winners have come from the Catskill gym than any other gym in history, but D'Amato never advised professional boxing to anybody. He also INVENTED the peek-a-boo style.

Obviously you can't argue with Manny Steward's record, he seemed to have a gift for training boxers. The Kronk gym has very humble beginnings and Manny would take kids off the streets of Detroit and turn them into excellent boxers.

I think Brendan Ingle deserves a mention. His gym was the very first gym that very good fighters like Herol Graham, Naseem Hamed, Johnny Nelson and Ryan Rhodes attended. He took Naseem at seven years old and turned him into a superstar, when Naz left Ingle he went on a downward spiral. He took Junior Witter at 22 years old and Improved him into a world-class fighter. When Ingle first took Witter he was an outside fighter who danced around the outside of the ring like a bunny, but Ingle had the vision to gradually turn him into what he calls an attacking counter-puncher (and it has worked).

But Roy Jones Jr was apparently naturally gifted and was born with fast reflexes.

Although I have heard that Roy Jones Sr was the guy who got Derrick Gainer and Vince Phillips started, is that true ICEMAN? I think he trained a pretty decent journeyman called Billy Lewis (who claims to of sparred with Nigel Benn in Miami sometime when Lewis says he was 8-0) too. ICEMAN, do you know who any others Jones Sr has trained?

He taught them the 'Herol Graham style' defence and it worked because they were difficult to hit, but when Naz started to become a stranger to the gym after he became world champion and when he started going off the rails abit he started getting caught more and more.
