i would tend to agree , but they are tryin to turn it into a sport more than a freakshow , with rules , weight division and steroids testing , and referee power to allow for more action in the fights

not sure if it is gonna work , they lack a real fan base it seems , as you said it may be just a flavor of the month , they may soon start to be bike fighting fans

I watched the Arlovski fight tonight and he is impressive but as a sport MMA leaves something to be desired. K1 strikes me as more of a sport than MMA and this is not to say MMA guys are not skilled or anything like that. I do respect the fighters...

One more thing. For those who think that UFC has been around since last year, well, think again. The UFC has had its following since 1993 and Pride FC started in Japan in 1997. Just because it is not as mainstream as boxing does not mean that MMA is undergroung or not legit.

MMA will stay a fringe sport. The gov't was against it as soon as the UFC came around in the US. Even after the watered down **** the UFC is now, I still don't see it being a major force.

Boxing will become big again. That I am certain will happen. It is just a matter of time before someone really rich realizes the money potential of boxing and starts a private boxing league like an NBA. Once that happens, forget about it, boxing will be back.

Bob Sap fights like a girl. It was like watching a polar bear punch a tree.

That is not good enough to judge Arlovski because he finished his man in seconds. If you watch other Arlovski fights, you will see an exceptional well rounded fighter with enough striking skill to cause a stir in today's boxing heavyweight division.

If anyone is interested, I can recommend some good fights worth looking for.

I'm thinking when ESPN begins to air the new season of The Contender it will help bring more exposure to boxing now that it's on a sports channel. I like the UFC but i dont think it will be as popular as boxing.

one thing for sure , MMA is ALWAYS tryin to negate boxing . they always say during the broadcast "it s not like boxing , it s real , the whole body is a weapon and blablabal blai blalalalilalailal"

boxing is acting like MMA doesnt exist at all .
