That's what I mean about being overly dramatic...like all boxers are shell shocked over the threat of potential injury in the ring...Ive never run into a boxer in my life who would bat an eye when discussing death in the ring, getting injured...you make it out here like fighters get nervous and anxious and fidgety or something when the big topic comes up....maybe some do, I dont know, but on my end Ive never seen any indication of that...
Ok, then you wouldn't mind.
Approximately how many times have you had small areas of time displaced from your memory? Like maybe 5-10 seconds
Approximately how many times have you had large areas of time displaced from your memory? Hours
Have you suffered from headaches, loud noises or comotion?
Have you ever been knocked out?
Do you remember things well, like reading a script once or twice and then basically reciting it.
Do you realize that people in this world may have different opinions than you on the topics that you bring up..........Rockin'
boxing image hadnt recovered in the 70's, when Ali-Frazier-Foreman-Norton were in action...when Cosell was on ABC...Ali-Frazier, Ali-Foreman....Leonard-Hearns, 10 million each....boxing hadnt recovered? OK
Are you under the impression boxing's rep was pure before the IBC and Carbo, etc?
I am in no way under that impression. It's always been an old west traveling circus. Just now there are 5 or 6 circuses in town at once.
The IBC used the television to it's maximum potential with it's fights and promotions. What they did and how they did it is common knowledge. Besides doing some bad things they did do one thing good. They pumped boxing full of fresh blood and to that blood they added adrenaline and oxygen. For small spurts boxing has fared well since the IBC, but it has never roared as it did during those times........Rockin'

Hmmm...I wonder if YOU realized that when you typed this? ....
"No ****.......... But when these special men are forced to live out their lives in wheel chairs, unable to speak, unable to wipe their own asses....
Why not make them do 20 rounds, it's been awhile since we've seen that. I'm sure that the fans would love to have an extra 8 rounds rather than just 3 more rounds.
Boxing is a great sport, the greatest in my eyes. But in boxing its not always what you win that is so important as to what you lose. That being cognetive functions, memorie, the abilitie to care for yourself at a young age, the abilitie to speak or even work a television remote control.
You want to do this for the excitement of the sport. Other sports could follow suite. We could have random oil slicks placed in the turns of the indy 500 or maybe place a few land mines in the outfields of all the Major League baseball parks. Excitement of the fans is important but the saftey of the athletes needs to be looked at.
You know that a fighter can come in on weight and fight a brawl in the scorching heat and become dehydrated during the fight. It's not just drying out that makes the fighters dehydrated.
"Its a special kind of sport for special kinds of men", whatever. They are still human beings and should not have to endanger their lives by adding 9 minutes of extra battering for the fans pleasure."

when Cosell was on ABC...Ali-Frazier, Ali-Foreman....Leonard-Hearns,
all big fights and just about everybody knew something about those guys at those times. But if you asked these same people who the featherweight and lightweight tile holders were they would be clueless.
Back in the IBC times you knew who all the champions were.......Rockin'

Isaw that when I typed it, so what are ya getting at, what is your point?.......Rockin'
I'm unsure, I'm not a medical professional but I think common sense says most danger may occur after the 12th, because fighters are dehydrated and exhausted.
What's more important is the nature of the fight. I mean, you can sit and watch Leonard-Hagler, or Cotto-Margarito, and instantly the 12 round fight becomes so long, as if you couldn't imagine men holding the pace for 12 rounds.....those fights are the ones that show you that 15 rounds really aren't necessary. Hell, Chvez-Taylor proves this too.
For what it's worth...I sent my "proposal" to a group of boxing writers and one of them (you've read his stuff countless times, no doubt) email me this a minute ago in reply:
"Iceman, Aren’t you ever so right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12 rounds is nothing less than an obscenity. It was done to accommodate TV, so that they could spend more time on promoting their network. Then that piece of garbage Sulieman came out with the phony cover story about “safety”, and they’ve had more boxers killed in 12 rounders in the relatively brief period since than there ever were in 15 rders."
