He's gone backward hugely as a fighter, there are so many things he used to do in the ring that we haven't seen in an age - and, like you say, the guy's mind and spirit seem to have been broken, so the body will surely follow in that trait of decline.Comment

Drunk Kelly Pavlik is still a tougher test than anyone Bute has fought. Bute probably gets with him though if Kelly cant keep straight.Comment

I guess none of know all the factors at play in his life, but like you said he just isnt fighting like he used to. He looked like a husk in his last fight and when you have gone so far back I reckon he wont get close to being the fighter he was. I just hope the guy has looked after his money and secured some sort of future beyond boxing.Originally posted by Adam KonitzHe's gone backward hugely as a fighter, there are so many things he used to do in the ring that we haven't seen in an age - and, like you say, the guy seems mentally broken.Comment

The stuff like this on Boxingscene is just rewritten material from the original article, and if the writer is lazy, stuff gets left out. It's not like Boxingscene did an original story on this incident.
I do get your point -- when they say they had been drinking, that could be one beer each before they started fighting. It's vague for sure, but when you're a pretty famous alcoholic, people are going to assume the worst, and too often, they are correct.Comment

The Ghost
It just kills me how people just sit on the sideline and cast judgement on others. At the end of the day this man has accomplished plenty in his life especially coming from that rough town he's from. And that last fight he looked excellent. So him and his brother had a fight. He is battling alcoholism, but the man is still admired. People make mistakes. If anything the loss to Sergio was worst than the one to Hopkins. Watch everyone jump on his sack when he wins another title.According to the Youngstown Vindicator, the hometown paper of Kelly Pavlik, the former middleweight champion was involved in a physical altercation with his brother, Michael Pavlik Jr., last Friday at their parents home. Youngstown police filed a report Friday stating that Kelly Pavlik, 29, and Michael Pavlik Jr., 35, were involved in a disagreement at the parents home.

It's part of the famous "Rust Belt" where all the industrial jobs vanished and nothing came along to replace them. There's loads of Youngstowns all over America these days.Comment
