Not in 05' at 140 *sigh*

And, lets not forget what Floyd said when Cotto was mentioned during this time period..."I will retire from boxing, I won't let boxing retire me." And, then went on to negotiate a rematch with Oscar before "retiring." Thank goodness he retired instead of going through that whack ass rematch...

To Floyd credit....Around this time as well....Cotto was not eager to fight Floyd either. He never once reached out to make the fight happen. So can't blame Floyd.

Again if you will blame one then you have to blame the other as well.

oh and during this late 2007 (November 2007) to Mid 2008 (August 2008) is only 8 months man...stop acting like Cotto was the beast at 147 and was on top....he beat Shane Mosley, Alfonso Gomez and quit vs Margarito...after that he was DONE!!!...Mayweather fought Hatton a month After Cotto fought Shane.....Mayweather retired. within the time (8 months) that Mayweather left his TOP spot as the #1 WW all cotto did was beat Gomez and lose to Margarito......

    and Mayweather ducked this guy?

      I agree with Cotto...Hence why he's not even a HOF'er.'

You act like I give a damn what you say about Cotto?

Again I still can't believe that ****er fought Judah after Judah lost to a journeyman...And, it's worse that his fans defend that move by making up stories...And, then he fought that journeyman

This "great fighter" fought a journeyman and the guy who lost to a journeyman back-to-back

Anyways...Floyd didn't duck Cotto...Neither guy was eager to fight each other when the fight should have been made.

If you blame Floyd then you also have to blame Cotto.
Wait didnt Pac fight Morales AFTER Raheem outboxed him? Actually that is no different than Pac and his last 2 opponents...oh and didnt Pac fight Clottey after Cotto beat him?

See, now you are sounding like Floyd. You are trying to make sense of a cowards career by justifying fights like Gatti and Baldomir because they were lucky enough to have a belt? You know your boy ngga rich had NO desire to fight Cotto. Cotto was smashing guys that went the whole night with Floyd. Come on now...

Get off that Kool Aid and Mac N Cheese and you'll be aight.
so why did it take this so called TOP P4P guy Cotto 36 fights & 9 years to BEAT a world champ with a title?

        JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION...

I'm one of the biggest Cotto fans around here and like many others, I was savoring the potential fight with Mayweather before Cotto ran into Margarito.

However, I have always been aware that Cotto has a tendency to get hit too much.

I distinctly remember the Countdown show with Cotto-Judah where Bob Papa says: "He gets hit a little bit too much, he gets hit too much...for a guy that's supposed to be a elite."

It's not just that, if you were to take an estimate of the average percentage of power punches opponents land on Cotto, it'd probably be somewhere around 40-45%. He is an exciting fighter and a consistent one, but anything having to do with uppercuts or straight rights, he'll eat them all day.

I'd give him a better chance to beat Mayweather had it been in 2008 pre-Margarito.

There is absolutely zero chance he beats Mayweather at this point. He also marks up much more easily than before. When you look at post fight interviews with Judah, Mosley, Torres (which was a war), he looks a bit scuffled but pretty normal.

You look at his recent fights with Foreman and Mayorga, the guy is marked up all around. Either that's scar tissue acting up, or Cotto is not made for 154...

Bottom line, I'd bet all my points on Mayweather beating him if the fight ever gets made.

I'm sorry who was ranked #1 during that time frame? Wasn't it Cotto? Floyd was still considered lineal champ he was negotiating a rematch with Oscar was he not?

Floyd was not ranked #1 he was the champ and Cotto was the #1 contender...

What don't you get that this was the best to make the fight. However, it wasn't Floyd fault that the fight didn't happen. You can't blame one without blaming the other.

You right, and yes he did....He deserve every single flack he gets for taking those fights. It was whack.

But, then again I'm a fan not a ****rider. You see where I'm going with this?

You act like criticizing Pac is going to own me? I criticize that mofo everyday so much so that people call me a "*****"

So please come better than or stay

Okay, so what made Mayweather a top fighter at '40? If that's your logic for Cotto not being a top fighter at '40. Wow, Cotto wasn't a top fighter at '40 when Mayweather was there, terrible.

In your post, all you're saying is that Mayweather ducked Cotto while trying to come off non-bias by stating neither wanted to fight each other... right.
