Rios would torture Khan and Maidana. Acosta has a better chin than Khan and is a a underrated boxer and Rios broke him down. Maidana is far more wreckless than Rios and would be wide open to Rios's bone crunching shots. Hell Morales a much lighter hitter had Maidana hurt.

      Rios, too soon to judge

Rios looked spectacular against Antillon; bigger, stronger, and younger without a doubt, but i have a couple problems with his style and his interview after the fight. First off in my opinion, Rios is the 2011 edition of former lightweight king Juan Diaz, in every way except size. They both come forward throwing every power punch in the book, they both lack "set-up" offense or superior boxing skills, and their not great "boxers". Rios style will only get him so far, he can keep feasting on B level fighters all he wants but he will ultimately be undone by A level world class fighters.
In Rios interview after the fight, he mentioned that he wanted to fight the best at lightweight. And the best at lightweight according to him is Barrera. Really Rios? Barrera, give me a break! Dont get me wrong, I love Barrera he is what made me a fan of boxing years ago. But come on Rios, Barrera isnt even a top 10 lightweight and your going to call him out! Really?! Why cant Rios call out the best lightweight in the world like J.M Marquez? Why cant Rios set up a fight with Marquez after the Pacquio fight? Or why not Robert Guerrero who needs to step up as well and is about the same age. Or Humberto Soto who I think would school Rios with pure boxing skills, let alone Marquez who would destroy him tactically! Rios made himself irrelevent with that interview. Im willing to bet if Rios moves up to Jr. Welter, that he might set up a fight with lets say....... Malignaggi and then call out the best Jr. Welter like lets say....... Maidana. Wake up kid, you have a long ways to go. Antillon is a good fighter, but no where near the class of J.M. Marquez or Soto!

Would love to see him against the top guys at 140. Bet Soto will still duck him. I used to love watching Soto until he started taking all these bull **** fights.

Diaz, bless him, was pillow-fisted in comparison to this kid.

Their styles are somewhat nuanced, too, IMO.

Rios has absolutely no chance of beating Khan at this point. He should get in the mix at 140 if Soto swerves the fight, get Mathysse or Morales as a step up.

By the time Rios settles at 140, Khan will have moved up to 147. Too big, too fast and too much skill.

Maidana v Rios would be good

I thought the same thing, but let's be honest here. That was strictly Bob Arum talking, it was just Brandons lips moving. Somehow I just can't see Brandon sitting there thinking "If I win this fight, who should I announce to the world on HBO is the next fight I want? Maidana? Kahn? Marquez? Hmmm..... (light bulb) I know!!! MARCO ANTONIO BARERRA!!!!! Cause he would be the toughest fight out there out of alllll these guys." Riiiight. GTFOH! I mean I know Rios isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but MAB? And Arum, I'm sure, said 'Listen kid, you do things my way and fight who I think you should fight and not only will I make you a boat load of money - I'll put you in line to fight on the Manny Pacquiao Expressway!' This is Bobs agenda, he no longer seems as concerned with making good, legitamate fights that make sense from a fighting perspective. And as long as he can sell his fighters a "chance" to fight Pacquiao, and make a ****load of money to do it - we will probably continue to see our up coming/promising talent doing TR's will. It's all about what makes the biggest money sense to him, and once a fighter like Rios starts coming up and gets a good following, his main objective is to find opponents that will also generate large crowds and big money (hey, I get this is a business but WE are the ones that are continuously lining Arums pockets). Unfortunately, those fighters are going to be the old veterans like Morales, Barerra etc. and are nowhere near what they used to be. But as long as they (old timers) can generate more money then the great new up and comers that they (TR fighters) SHOULD be fighting, Bob is going to choose the vets with no regard to the fans, or how it may make his fighter look.

And besides all that, Arum all but said last night that he was looking to make Rios one of the next big cash cows after Pacquiao is gone. It's scary to think where Arum may be heading Rios career in the next few years. Hopefully Brandon will learn to tell Bob who HE wants to fight, and not let it be the other way around - But sadly, the loure of big money for some of these fighters who have struggled for ends meat for so long, it can be a tough thing to walk away from when the opportunity is so lucritive for them.

He did not even call out Bradley who is thought to be headed to TR and is the num 1 Jr WW in the world..I also think that Rios is a very dangerous fight for Bradley one of the most dangerous(outside of Khan)imo for Bradley...I think your right that was totally Bob talking,MAB lol you got to be kidding me..

Rios Needs To Get Thru Marquez & Morales First!!!

Listen, Rios has the right record, has the right warrior mentality, willing to fight anyone, so here's the direction I'd lead him. First I'd pit him with two legends towards the end of their careers in Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales. That could be done over the next 9 months. Provided he blows thru both of them in convincing fashion, then line him up to fight Tim Bradley and Victor Ortiz in succession. If he dismantles those two, then you consider the Maidanas, the Khans, and ultimately Pacquiao. Why not?!!? Clean out the division on your way to top. That's credible. That's how Leonard did it. Arguello, Hearns, Duran, Chavez, all reached "Legend status" that way.
