If he had wins over a prime B-Hop, RJJ, Toney and other guys of that nature I'd say yes. I know how many years he was champion but he fought crappy fighters during that time, Abraham, Taylor, etc. could've done what Joe did. He didn't step it up until the last few years, his best win is over B-Hop and his 2nd best win over Kessler. His resume just isn't strong enough imo.
I voted Lewis simply out of ignorance, I know almost nothing of British boxing but I do know p4p he's better than Nas and Joe (the only two British fighters I really know of)
Calzaghe's resume is infinitely stronger than Lewis'
Calzaghe was champion for longer. Beat some very solid names decisively. His win over Hopkins really really adds to his credibility. And PS) Hopkins is fighting his best right now, and Joe beat him in 2007, so Hopkins is in his prime at that time.
Calzaghe also handily beat Lacy, Jones, Eubank, and Kessler.
Lennox Lewis' claim to fame is beating an old, shot Mike Tyson.
Lennox Lewis second claim to fame is his losses where he was KO'd twice by B level fighters.
Joe Calzaghe was much more consistent, never lost, beat the better opposition.
Calzaghe's resume is A LOT better than Lewis's. Beating a prime Mike Tyson could have been good for Lewis, but beating an old 2003 Tyson is not gonna do it.
Calzaghe > Lewis.
