Your essential point is manny is the best because he is humble. Thats ridiculous. Popularity, unfortunately, is somehow a variable in who is seen as the better fighter. Manny is a very good boxer, but he isn't the best just because media members wnat the good guy to be the best. While that works in fairy tales it rarely does in real life.

Actually it isn't. I really don't know where you got that from everything I said. I pointed out that he himself doesn't put "the best" label unto himself personally. The fans, media, and historians do. And when I mean "best," I'm talking about currently.

He isn't the best simply because he's the good guy. He's considered the best because of what he's accomplished and the manner he's gotten them. Manny's competed for 5 vacant titles, and then had the nerve call himself a multi-division champion. YOU CAN'T BE A CHAMPION IF YOU DIDN'T BEAT A CHAMPION FOR THAT DISTINCTION IN THE PEOPLE'S EYES!!! Does that make Pacquiao the best?

Manny stipulated that several of his opponents from DLH on up compete in catchweight matches, and stipulated that there was a limit to how much weight they could put on after the official weigh in during the rehydration period. Does that make him the best?

Manny targeted every opponent since DLH ONLY once they were defeated. In almost every case, it was the worst loss of their careers. They lost their rank and their titles BEFORE Manny would fight them. Does that make him the best?

How about the EMBARRASSMENT when Arum had to pay Texas officials to allow the banned in 50 states cheater Margarito to compete against Pacquiao for a vacant jrMW title that neither man was in line for? Does that make him the best?

What are these accomplishments that you continue to talk about? I don't attempt to take credit away from Manny Pacquiao's wins. I simply am putting their value in context in this conversation about becoming an all time great. Pacquiao is an exciting fighter who is willing to trade against less than the very best competition. He's proven that he can beat guys who have just lost. That's established. However Pacquiao has not proven that he can unthrone the best to be called the best.

That is the true test of a man who wishes to be a champion of champions.

Whether or not Pacquiao does this in the future is his decision. Err ... I meant his Pappy Arum's decision, but I'm sure Pacquiao has some input. OK fine. Once Pacquiao is used, abused and thrown away, maybe at that point Arum will let him go to pursue greatness. That is, if Arum doesn't need someone to mow his lawn at that point.

He's just using Manny to sell his fight. He did it against Marquez, and is doing it once again. I doubt he will fight Pacquiao. Mayweather doesn't want to take the test. Pacquiao was ready after he demolished Cotto, yet the Mayweather's were shook of Pac's destructive power, and ability to take a punch, which is what killed the fight in the first place. I doubt it will ever happen.
