Some people just have trouble shaking the American perspective on sports; that since American blacks tend to be more athletic than American whites, they are superior athletes. To them, they see a white guy win and that doesn't mean he's good, it means the talent level has declined and everyone else in the world just sucks.

Of course white Americans have the least athletic culture in the world so once boxing became global this superiority myth was politely poopood on. Being more athletic than them merely puts you in second-to-last place.

There are just still a few "old school" guys muttering under their breaths when they see Europeans dominating. It's not just racially biased blacks, it's also old east coast white/***ish/etc guys who are stuck in the old days and the imagery of a bunch of black toddlers from the ****** bring farmed from birth as the "ultimate fighting machines".

Go into the historical forum on this very site and suggest any Euro or hispanic boxer is better than any black boxer and some 80 year old from jersey will bombard you with racism accusations until he has a stroke.

No one really worth supporting other than Floyd could be the reason.

Some ppl do find them boring but some ppl have already a negative impression of them for other reasons not related their boxing so they just repeat things other ppl say and look for more reasons not to like them.

Yes there are some ppl who are just not happy with the HW champion coming from the place they do or not having the same color skin as them and no argument can change that.

Since when did Bernard Hopkins, Paul Williams, Timothy Bradley have any fans...they are not exactly bums are they....Hopkins was more than willing to go to Canada to face Pascal, do you truly beleive he would have done so if he could sell out arenas......lol

Fans of the Klits should be happy that they arent black American...wlad especially, would get a lot more stick, and would not be able to sell out 60,000 arenas..would be heavily critiscied for taking too long to ko bums, jabbing and holding ect....

Its pretty obvious from this thread that theres a significant minority of Klitschko fans who a) can't differentiate between Wlad and Vitali preferring to confuse them when having an argument and b) want to reduce everything to an argument about race.

This reflects badly on the fighters themselves and it makes me feel bad because its the deflection of this attitude onto the fighters that makes people dislike Wlad and Vitali.

The interesting thing is that as different as the Klitschkos' styles and records are, the people who hate one tend to hate both.

They'll also weasel out of an argument by intentionally mixing them up; ie if you say Vitali isn't a boring fighter, they'll embed a video of Wlad vs Sultan to prove you wrong. But they'll never accidentally attribute a highlight real KO to the wrong brother, only their worst moments, so both are just a compilation of each other's flops.

That's what gives you the feeling lots of people hate them for reasons that have nothing to do with boxing. People just don't get that scientific about their slander unless they have something up their butt. Like I'm making fun of Haye's toe excuse but I'm not putting any real effort into it or carefully manipulating data on some crusade.

Hardly anyone knows who Bradley or PWill are outside of hardcore fans, Hopkins you have a point has never had a huge fanbase. I can't explain why really could be a variety of reasons there is never one single factor in a situation like this.

I never mentioned anything about Wlad being more or less popular if he was black just that some ppl don't like him on the basis that he isn't though its not the only reason some ppl don't like him. I understand that some ppl don't like his style I was not happy too with the Haye fight because he was unable to cause any real damage and after 5 it was a predictable UD.
