Roach: We want the Floyd fight 'badly'

MANILA, Philippines – Four-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach declared in an interview with ESPN Radio that both he and Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao want to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. “badly.”

“We want that fight badly,” Roach said. “We agreed to everything he asked for the least time... and nothing happened.”

Roach said that he hoped Mayweather meant his words when the boxer said that he absolutely wanted to fight Pacquiao.

“Is it just talk or is it action?” Roach asked.

But Roach added that Mayweather will still have to face Victor Ortiz in September, and that the fight will not be an easy one.

“He is fighting Victory Ortiz and he’s a southpaw...He has to beat Ortiz first and that’s not going to be an easy task,” Roach said, adding that southpaws have traditionally given Mayweather some problems.

Roach also said that Ortiz will have an advantage because Mayweather has not fought in a year and a half.

“The gym is the gym and the fight’s the fight,” Roach said.

But Roach reiterated that if Mayweather defeats Ortiz, he and Pacquiao will be waiting.

“Last time, we agreed to everything he asked. On my side and on Manny’s side, we want that fight a hundred percent,” Roach said.

“We’re gonna fight Marquez in November and anytime after that. If (Mayweather) wants to fight the next day, we’ll be ready,” he added.

Roach also said that money should not be an issue because both fighters look to earn a lot from the possible mega-fight.

“I don’t think that money is an issue right now, because the money seems to be there with the worldwide interest in the fight,” Roach said.

Hope Duckweather wins. He is only raising his stock and Manny's stock at the same time. If people are willing to dole $65 million to each boxer then if they both win their upcoming fights people will surely be forking out $100 million easily.

I want that mega-fight so badly.

Everybody wants this fight badly except for the mayweathers.
Mayweather is just waiting for someone else to beat PAc so he doesn't have to fight him.
      It's never going to happen.

this fight needs to happen sooo badly

          50/50 fight

i respect mayweather as a smart fighter who has dominated everyone he's chosen to fight

          however

i cant respect his pathetic in ring antics- 10% work rate- zero finishing ability shown (we know he can which makes it worse)

and worst of all- his gutless behaviour when a rival (pacman) came on the scene

truth is 2008 pacman would have destroyed 2008 mayweather

I know reporters ask both sides about the potential fight all the time but I'm tired of hearing both sides negotiate through the media or state how much they want the fight. If that's the case STFU and have the representatives meet and ink out the details. Deals aren't made through ****n twitter or other media outlets.

nahh. the money offered is not sufficient for floyd. if he has to fight a risky fight he has to make $100 million for it. why do you think he wants arum out of the picture? you can see this in his interviews on mainstream tv. the host never brings up the drug testing issue. neither floyd. "when are you going to fight manny?" is always the first question you'd hear asked.
