    Floyd's Gameplan Against Ortiz

    Offence:

I think he will/should stand with Ortiz. Mayweather has easily the faster hands and Ortiz buckles under applied pressure just look at Maidana, Lamont Peterson, and at times Berto was successful applyin pressure. Mayweather is a whole other beast compared to those boxers mentioned. Maidana broke Ortiz not cuz of power (look at the size difference) but because of relentless pressure.

    Floyd's defence:

Stop saying "ooo the shoulder roll wont work against a south paw" because Floyd doesnt use it against south paws and if he does its rarely. Look at his other fights with south paws he uses his simple high-guard defence coutering with the drop jab or lead right.

Expecting a mid to late stoppage by Mayweather Jr.

No reason he can't stand in front of Ortiz, control distance, and snipe Ortiz during his looping punches. Basically the way he fought Mosley.

It's more interesting to wonder how Ortiz will approach the fight. You'd think he'd be crazy to try and stay close and pressure Mayweather, but he can't stay outside and outbox Mayweather. If Peterson can pressure and counter Ortiz, Mayweather certainly would.

I think Ortiz has to rely on his size and youth, and try to make Mayweather work more than he is used to. Maybe age will catch up and Mayweather will tire or Ortiz will catch him.

      1. Floyd isn't a pressure fighter

      2. Floyd himself, dislikes fighting high-pressure fighters, Ortiz is high-pressure

      3. Floyd couldn't stop Mosley or JMM, how is he gonna stop Ortiz?

      4. Floyd throws one or two punches at a time, he isn't the kind of guy to beat the other person into submission. He effectively counters to win most fights on a points basis.

Thing is he could and should have been a little more aggressive against Shane. I would to like to see him shoot for more 3-4 punch combos. Maybe not all the time but at least more then his normal 1-2 and an occasional 3 punch combos.

Victor Ortiz really isn't a pressure fighter.

Which is why despite the youth and size and power and all that, it's really hard to see a way he beats Mayweather.

              1.) Inject Xylocaine

              2.) Push off with elbow/forearm

3.) Duck below his opponents waist

4.) Clinch everytime Ortiz gets close

5.) Run backwords like Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk

                Floyd doesn't do gameplans.

8,9, or 10th round KO for Floyd

just watch any of his fights vs a south paw, then watch Ortiz vs Berto again. really not that hard to figure out.

People seem to have this idea he is an all out pressure fighter.

                    He really isn't.

I garantee he backs up numerous times in the fight.
