Larry Merchant Is Garbage

I agree with the majority of the posters here. I thought Merchant really came off as a bitter ******* calling the fight. They were numerous times during the fight that I was wondering why can't this guy just shut the **** up.

I think Floyd said it best during one of Merchant's interviews when he told him he's just a commentator who doesn't know **** about boxing.

Atleast Larry has the balls to call him out on it. You'd prefer we stroke these guys egos despite putting on a very weak performance that is not deserving AT ALL of 15 million dollars.

I'm one of those guys who doesn't find a single comedian funny, has lost jobs because of my inability to laugh at coworkers lame ass jokes

and practically everything Larry says makes me laugh

He has it down to a science, talk like a senile drunk but let subtle insults rip nonstop, often to the fighters face

Listen, Merchant being critical at times is not the issue, but it's his condescending tone and negative rhetoric that make people want to tune him out. This thread alone tells you how much he can FURTHER devalue a fight. If a fight turns out to be crap, I prefer to watch it play itself out that way rather than be constantly subjected EVERY ROUND to the commentators reinforcement or belief on how horrible the fight, or a particular fighter is.

I thought Merchant was effing hilarious. It was like an insult comic instead of a commentator on there. I was entertained more by Larry's commentary than the fight. Even Lampley was getting his jabs in there as well. I look at Larry as a curmudgeonly old man who doesn't give a fuck and that's why I find him hilarious.
