You don't need to make excuses for Wlad's knockdowns - his defense has gone from below average to astounding and he went from a nervous shy fighter to a disciplined machine, being a late bloomer doesn't lower his rating to me at all

And more importantly, Lewis got KTFO by questionable competition too, so, if comparing the two on a career-long scale, how is it even a factor? They're pretty much tied in that area

Nobody can even say jack **** about him or point out any flaws (sans his time off for injuries) so they go straight to belittling his opponents (who before he beat them, they were hyping, or when lewis fought them, were serious threats). He's, to me, the most fascinating modern boxer to watch in slow motion and mimic his technique, if you made him a foot shorter he would still be a champion in some division just via his parrying & countering technique

wlad and lewis are interesting to watch but just "good", don't let the quantity of meaningless belts they've collected propel them any higher

sadly, haye has hyped this fight so much that when Wlad knocks his socks off he will totally eclipse his more talented brother's career, that's how boxing and life in general works

I agree with this. Wlad only got knocked down by flashes or exhaustion. Lennox got flat out sparked by two journeymen.

As far as Vitali. He was going to stop Lennox. Hence, no rematch. Lennox knew it and so did his mamma. Lewis turned down a gauranteed 25 million for that fight. Anyone who does that is not very confident with victory. I bet Emanuel Steward told him not to face Vitali again too.

Vitali is probably the most talented heavyweight in terms of a complete package than there has been since probably Lennox Lewis himself and Joe Louis. You just can't really point out a major weakness anywhere in his game.

Heads up, Vitali would destroy Wladimir. Sorry to say.

i say otherwise. after the rust got knocked off of lennox he started taking over that fight. and don't downplay the cut like it was from a headbutt or clash of heads. lennox inflicted the damage to the eye that ultimately finished the fight. vitali showed a lot of heart. he fought a valiant fight. but to say he was gonna knock lennox out is a bit overboard.

Big fan of both guys, but yeah, Lewis is better. Not by a whole lot, but I look at Lewis as one of the best heavyweights that ever lived (when he was in shape and gave a ****.)

lets not pretend like Vitali never shaked in the mid rounds when Lewis landed a cracking uppercut and Vitalis legs wobbled and he held on for dear life. Both fighters legs wobbled in that fight given the power of punches that were being thrown and the lack of defense. It was more like a backyard scarp than a boxing much

either man could have gone down with a blow, however vitalis lack of defense cost him the fight, both of them took the fight on short notice and it was evident there was no real game plan

Lets just look at the "short notice". Lewis was in TOP SHAPE (as he said himself) because he was fighting the No. ONE Contender Kirk Johnson who was really unbeaten. His record was 33-1. The "loss" was a fake DQ against Ruiz when Ruiz was well beaten and faked the foul. I saw that fight, and all the commentators were agreed that Ruiz faked it.

Klitschko was to fight a 10 rounder with a no-name called Dave Bostice (I think correct me if in error). After the fight, Lewis was FORCED into agreeing to give Klitschko a rematch, and the 6th Dec 2003 was reserved for that fight. THEN....Lewis, to protect his fans, he said, insisted that Klitschko travel all the way to London to have his eye checked with his, Lewis's eye specialist. Klitschko's eye had healed within 2 weeks, in fact after 10 days the cut was invisible, and he went on TV just to show this.

But Lewis still wouldn't complete the deal, and in fact Klitschko fought Lewis's original opponent Kirk Johnson on that reserved Dec.6th date instead of Lewis. When Lewis saw Klitschko absolutely devour Johnson in a rd and a half, he must have known he had no chance in a rematch, so strung it out until April 2004, and came under commission pressure to defend against Klitschko.....so he RETIRED.

That's the whole, truthful, story, well documented. There's much more to a fight than just the result.

Vitali didn't buckle or wobble at all. He was well on his way to stopping Lewis. It was a lucky occurance that Lennox opened cuts on Vitali because without that he loses.

i stopped reading up the bolded, Lewis was inbad shape, he came in heavy, flabby out of condition and had been out of the ring for a year...ofcourse boxers are going to say they were in great condition, boxers dont talk themselves down. anyone who has seen lewis fight will know he came in lookin like a flabby larry holmes, similar to the first fight with hasim rahman...you have a far to much hard on for the kilts that you start distorting the facts

i can say both lewis and vitali were wobble din the fight, in the early round vitali got lewis shaken up a few times, and towards the end lewis had him wobbling, i remmeber it clearly, then the fight was stopped because of big kilts weak skin.

either way lewis was to old and unfit to be in the ring in the first place and he scrapped like a 25 year old, that was not good for a man his age. he proved how overrated vitali was, who should have been able to beat a old man.

lewis got knocked out by decent boxers, and because of his own lack of training and concentration, unlike wlad he avenged his loses and beat his opponents to a pulp

Hasim Raham was one of the biggest fluke punches ive ever seen and in the rematch Lewis came in much lighter and gave him a boxing lesson he will never forget. After the fight Hasim admitted that Lewis was too good for him, he beat the respect into him.

Wlad lost to bums, and never had the heart to rematch...weak man

Makes sense now, Lennox is scared of being forgotten. And i thought Lennox was rooting for Haye cause of some black thing. Lennox shouldnt worry, Wlad is great but will always be compared to Lewis as an example. Similar to Kobe Bryant and Jordan, both are Great, so why complain
