For All You That Say Roy Jones Doesnt Have Heart

how can you say that. I dare you to say it after last night.

because he never had to dig deep before the first tarver fight you all assume he has no heart, instead of giving him credit for dominating everyone he ever fought.

yet you give guys like gatti, ward, etc.... all the credit in the world for struggling with F class fighters.

he was out on his feet last night in the 11th round after the right hook and then huge left uppercut, yet some how managed to come right back and throw a few punches. after that he was in trouble again for a while yet still managed to battle back towards the end of the round.

I think Jones can still do a lot in boxing. If he shows up like he did last night and throws more punches he can beat anyone.

his reflexes, speed, defense are all still there.

I agree, after my dad stunned him with the right hand in the 11th round, I thought it would be over. But Roy still kept punching back and gave my dad a good body shot at the end. The only dissapoint of the fight was Roy should've thrown more punches, if he had thrown more punches, he would've definately won.

it would have been so great if jones some how came back and knocked tarver out, that would have really shut people up.

In the 5th round, Roy threw an uppercut that shook my dad and almost lost his balance. If he was a little more agressive, he could've knocked him out. I believe in the later rounds, Roy could've knocked out Tarver if he was more agressive also.

Roy def has heart and the heart of a champion BUT he is so mentally unstable in the Tarver fight after his two brutal KO's.

Just for taking the fight, he has heart...he didn't need the money. Roy has plenty of money...

              I disagree....

I'd rather see someone go in & fight to win, take a beating, & quit on their goddamn stool !
At least, at some point, they were TRYING TO WIN, & gave us something to enjoy.

I don't want to rent PPV matches, only to have one fighter aim to not get KO'd, as opposed to looking to win.

Don't give me any crap about Roy" boxing" in there. He was straight up afraid to make any contact, & it resulted in a horendous fight.

Roy shouldn't have taken the fight if he didn't intend to win.

I think Roy's claims about just wanting to put on a good show are nothing but spin. I think at least for the first 5-6 rounds he wanted to win but saw that he couldn't without taking a pounding himself. Which given his suspect chin, could have gotten him KOed out of there early again. The fact that Tarver had him out in the 11th only proves what people were saying about him, that he's too damaged to sustain any more punishment in the ring.

& why was tarver so shot after attempting to finish Roy off in the 11th ?
Yes, it was late in the fight, but so little fighting was done over the course, I would've expected that Tarver have some gas in his tank.

Who knows with Tarver, he's almost as much of a head case as Roy. His endurance has always been a bit wacky, you think he's doing fine and then suddenly he stops fighting. I don't know.

Roy probably could have finished him off in the 11th or 12th. But by that time I think he was psychologically checked out of the match. It was like Ali - Liston II except he put up a fight for a while and didn't go down.
