Sturm won 8 rounds on my scorecard. 8 or 7.

The fight was never a robbery. People need to learn the difference between quality and quantity; between aggression and effective aggression.

LOL @ you scoring 8 rounds for Sturm and telling people they need to learn something. You need to learn to score fights properly.

and double LOL @ you not realizing Macklin was being EFFECTIVE with his aggression, constantly attacked the body and the head moving sturm back. smh

He mounted a good body attack for three or four rounds, but after that he was neutralised. He was hitting Sturm's guard which was in turn slightly pushing his head. He still barely connected anything clean after the first few rounds.

Sorry, it was a brave attempt by Macklin, but he was outclassed. 90% of his "landed" punches were glancing or obscured. He was steadily worn out by his own overexertion and Sturm's precision, and the fight's momentum snowballed in Sturm's favour.

theres no way that Sturm won more than 6 rounds. I just cant see it any which way, unless you completely ignore body punching.

and yet Sturm got the decision. 116-112 even.
thats just a robbery, although its not the worst Ive seen.

oh yeah, I read that the punchstats supposedly had Macklin only landing 139 punches. lmao at anyone who uses that as evidence. that means Macklin landed less than 12 punches a round. there is a 0 percent chance that that is the case. do people even watch the fight? Macklin swept the first 3 rounds and clearly won the 10th as well. I dont remember my exact scorecard, but youre telling me that he didnt win 2 more rounds other than those? thats ludicrous.

just because Sturm's guard is up doesnt mean hes blocking every punch. this is like when people were claiming Arthur Abraham had amazing defense, just because he kept in his shell. or Clottey for that matter. reality is that plenty of punches get around that type of generic guard, especially clubbing shots that land on the side of the head. THOSE ARE SCORING PUNCHES. even Macklin;s jab was at times scoring through the guard and touching Sturms face.

and you could clearly see that Macklin's punches had an effect on Sturm. Sturm was exhausted and could barely throw punches at times, not to mention his face was pretty screwed up.

Sturm won a fair amount of rounds, but come on. you cant give him more than 6.

Yeah, those numbers sound suspect to me too. Macklin's punches were definitely going around and inside Sturms' gloves. Always landing. Those guys counting the punches were either blind or were looking at the fight at the wrong angles.

Yes, you had a better angle sitting on your couch than 2 Judges (who are from Mexico and another country) and the Punchstat trackers (who are former boxers) all of them being 2ft away from the ring.

Download the fight and watch in SLOW MOTION, Macklin was hitting air or glove. Just because someone throws a 6 punch combo doesnt mean it landed, look at the faces, Macklins was busted up. But I guess the International Judges were wrong, the punch counters were wrong, jim watts was wrong but you were right sitting on your couch.

Oh and all the people who had Sturm winning had it all wrong? This was all a giant scam right? 3million people involved in this to trick people that he was landing 6 punch combos! Trust me buddy, even Paullie Mallignaggi landing 6 punch combos would bust up a persons face. Sturm had some redness on his body from the first few rounds and thats about it and a few cuts later on in the fight on his face.

Macklin blew his load, he won the first 3-4 rounds but faded. You gotta watch Devon Alexander tho since you like seeing Air Punches, im sure he will throw 1000 tonight! the speed of the Wind will cause him to KO the other guy!

He wasn't even landing cleanly on the side of Sturm's head. The punches that ended up in that area usually arrived by way of deflection. Partial-connections, which may or may not be picked up by the highly fallible CompuBox counter, are not of equal value to cleanly landed punches.

"At times"? You mean like two or three times in the whole fight?

That's just the nature of the high-guard. You absorb the impact instead of avoiding it altogether, which inevitably causes some damage; but less so than a clean punch.

I accept that there were some subjective rounds in there, but I can and did give him more than six rounds. I think all of this robbery crying is a blatant case of confirmation bias due to the fight's location.

Sturm did a great job of neutralising that dangerous-looking body assault. He made some very subtle adjustments to his positioning and began to anticipate and ride the blows, and Macklin lost the fight from that point onwards. It was pretty masterful, imo.

Sturm's only real fault was his over-cautiousness. I reckon he could have put a full-stop on the fight if he were a bit more ambitious.

Yep, every time he threw a punch it landed and moved Macklin a few inches, but when Macklin threw a punch they were pretty wild and I would guess only 20-30% landed. The punch stat that Sky showed in the 11th round said it atll. 139-131, People need to understand how to score fights, its all about the quality of the punches instead of the quantity, Sturm was being too carefull and he shouldve been more aggressive because he was hurting Macklin with his shots.

I just dont get all this outrage? I had it exactly the way the judges had it and I hate Sturm. I wouldve been fine with a 115-114 or a Draw
