Yes, David Haye power is overrated. I won't say that he has no power at all because that would be a lie, but he doesn't has as much power as a lot of people thinks he has. Some posters here have been saying that Haye needs to land some "power shots" soon in order to stop Wlad, and I agree, but a lot of guys think that just by landing one or two power shots he's going to KO Wlad because he has a "bad chin".

First of all Haye is not a one punch KO guy, at least not in the HW division.
Second of all, Wlad has faced also guys with similar power to Haye, even if a lot of people say they are bums, for example Sam Peter (not the best fighter, but he has power) and Ibragimov. By the way he also defeated Chagaev, a guy who actually beat Valuev in better fashion than Haye.
Finally, we really don't know how how is Haye going to enter this fight, I mean, is he going to be heavier to have more power? Is he still going to be at 215 pounds to retain some speed? We really don't know, but he's not going to be extremely powerful and extremely fast at the same time as a lot of people think... I've read a lot of posts about this fight and some people mentione Haye as lightning fast and extremely powerful... well he's not, in fact if I had to chose between Haye best attribute I would say that he's fast (not that fast, but faster than most HW) and not that powerful, I think that he just has an above average punch, that's all.

When it comes to Wlad, then I would say that he's not that fast, in fact he's more of a slow guy ( not as slow as the "Mighty Russian Giant Valuev" or something like that guy Haye wants us to believe that he's that great, in fact he's not), but Wlad is a heavy puncher, way more powerful than Haye.

He's definatley got power at Heavyweight but he's never really been a 1 punch ko artist, most of his opponents can get up from the initial knockdown and need finishing off.

Valuev whether he had a bad chin or not got rocked by Haye's weaker hand in the 12th round, if that's not proving he has decent enough power then i don't know what is. Also Ruiz was very durable and you saw what happened there.

His competition isn't the greatest at Heavyweight but there's enough evidence there to say he's got enough power to stop Wlad imo. He won't knock him out clean but he can finish him off after the initial knockdown as long as he doesn't get too carried away and swings wildly. Lets not forget Wlad's chin is shaky, you can't deny that because you can't teach someone to have a better chin. The only reason Wlad hasn't been ko'ed recently is because he's learnt how to protect it better and generally improved as a boxer.

It's difficult to assess anything about Haye at heavyweight since he's only fought utter bums like Valuev, Ruiz, and Audley Harrison. What decent fight can we go by to make any judgement about Haye other than that he can beat bums.
