          as someone already pointed out. sure he can, but if oyu throw it in hte ring with Joe Frazier or Rocky Marciano I don't think he would see the end of the fight. Today's heavys suck. I think that even a guy with decent skills and good stamina would put him in trouble (Not Peter because his skills are non existent but Ike would be serious trouble for toney)

          Anyway I love Toney, I love to see his skills on display and I hope he keeps on kicking these bums' asses.

            Who said Toney is disciplined? I have to highly disagree with that. The dude has always had weight issues b/c he wouldn't lay off certain foods. He's got excellent technique and could've possibly been the greatest boxer to ever live had he been disciplined. I'm not saying he doesn't train hard when he has fights coming up. But, he knows eating fatty foods is no good for him between fights, yet he does it anyhow.

            Yeah, he could last 15 rounds. I think almost all of today's fighters could really. They'd all adjust and train to fight 15 round fights. It really wouldn't make a big difference, imo. I sort of wish, for some really big title fights, that they would let fighters have 15 rounders if both fighters agreed to it.

              [[[[James Toney is a Special fighter! you dont see guys with his size and weight with that quick hands and defense,]]]]]]]]
              ====================================

              What planet does this Toney live on. The Toney I saw against Ruiz needed steroids to lead with his face. He barely outlanded the lethargic Ruiz by about 5 punches and had to step on his feet to secure enough points to outscore him.

              Now I have it on good word that Toney has easily gone 50 rounds every day for weeks on end down at the ol' all you can eat buffet and ain't too picky what he piles on his plate!

                Think about the Jirov fight. Toney still had a good amount of energy left and Jirov would have been stopped in the 13th had it been a 15 round fight.

                The entire dynamic of the fight game changes when the fight is scheduled for 15 rounds.
                Well said i think.

                  Hopkins can because of his conditioning and style...Toney can because of his relaxing style and comfort...when you are comfortable in that ring...you can take shots better...roll with shots better...conserve your energy better...etc...

                  take a look at someone like Jermain Taylor...he's young...good looking...very good shape...but after not doing a whole lot, he was very gassed in the last 4 rounds vs Hopkins...again, Taylor young and in shape...but he fought very tense and threw his punches very hard...Toney not being known to have a HW punch throws his punches very relaxed and in spurts...therefore when he IS tired, he lets his opponents lean and smother him...he lets them get comfortable...he talks to the crowd and signals to the announcers, etc...then he opens up more when he is more relaxed...he is also able to psychologically prepare himself to take shots because he is expecting to get hit...

                  in other words, he can go 20 rounds and possibly still be effective

                    SERIOUS question: Could James Toney fight in a 15 round fight?

                    James Toney is "old school" once he steps in the ring he can be there all night as long as he is able to dictate the fight like he usually does. Given the right opponent, I believe he could go 20 rounds if he oppenent could fight that long also...I like james toney because he reminds me of myself, once I get into that coll calculated killer mode, I become virtually unstoppable at anything that I am doing.
