Mwayweathers height and Reach Advantage Will be big If they ever fight.

Mayweather Blocks using his shoulders and arm. he leans back with his shoulder shielding his chin.

Marquez had trouble finding mayweathers chin when he leaned back.
During the JMM fight Stewart pointed out that Mayweather defense was more effective because of the height difference. manny is shorter than JMM.

Also Floyds Jab will be a problem for manny because his reach is greater.
    72 compared to manny's 67

    Floyd Mayweather 5′ 8″ / 173cm
    Juan Manuel Marquez -height 5′ 7″ / 170cm
    Manny Pacquiao 5′ 5½″ / 166cm

True it isn't as effective in the south paw stance, so I'm assuming early int he fight he will use a typical high guard and work behind his jab. When he finds his range he'll bring out the shell and taunt manny with it. I would like to see if he could use his shell in a southpaw stance.
You just used Marquez as your example as to why FMJ would beat Pac. You are right. Most of the time, a great bigger and heavier fighter with longer reach will out-box an equally great smaller boxer.
Now please watch the first SRR/Basilio fight and try to explain how a not so great smaller boxer [79 fights total; 56 wins; 16 losses; and only 27 KO wins] managed to defeat THE GOAT who was almost 5 inch taller, 7+ lbs. heavier, more than 5 inch reach advantage, and the champion at MW.

Srr takes more risk, he brawls more. And the argument about it all changes when they get hit, floyd been hit numerous times and that didn't change ****.
judah, mosley, corley, mitchelle, castillo adn the list goes on. and the pac took cottos jab away thing.true, he threw his jab at the exact time cotto threw his.
he had to eat punches to take cottos jab away. he didn't slip he ate.

When people point at Floyd's "adjustments" they're really pinpointing the stage of the fight when Floyd get comfortable and start landing at will without getting hit. Sometimes he seemingly lulls fighters into a trance while standing right in front of them. That's because the emphasis on body and foot placement isn't appreciated by novice fans. Peep how sometimes fighters are reduced to just one punch before a clinch due to Floyd positioning himself just out of range forcing the fighter to overextend their offense. At that moment he decreases the distance and get right in their wheel house, causing them to over shoot their mark. He also has what my childhood coach used to call three levels of head placement. While feinting, Floyd will sometimes start with his head high, then drop it to his opponents shoulder level, and sometimes closer to his waist (where he normally shoot his straight right to the belly and where Zab countered and knocked him down). All these things coupled with his diverse offensive repertoire, causes his opponent to think too much. That's why a lot of purists harp on the "sweet science" so much. Small nuances can sometimes overcome what u lack physically. How else does someone widely regarded as a soft puncher keep guys from rushing him? How does someone who throws a low number of punches reduce his opponents throw rate and fight at his pace? None of these things are coincidences. The man is skilled. He may be a prick or too concerned with maximizing his profits....but the man is a highly skilled boxer. Period.

Cotto has a lot of power in his jab, so they automatically assume it's the best jab out there in the business.

That's because Cotto stood in close range next to Manny after he landed a couple shots. If he had moved backward and waited for Manny to retaliated, the jab would had been effective. The Jab will be non-effective if you don't keep enough range distance between yourself and your opponents.

The jab is the key to keeping range, it also allows you to see how your opponents every moves. Cotto did okay in the few early rounds, but he just got a little too excited and continuously stood closely in front of Manny.
