The problem people have with close fights are the scorecards. It drives some people to call fights a robbery.
Williams did not beat Martinez 119-110. That's ridiculous. But I had Williams winning.
Diaz did not beat Malignaggi 118-110. I had Malignaggi winning.
Froch did not beat Pascal 118-110, horrible scorecard. But I had Froch winning.
And yeah, I guess 116-111 was too much for Floyd vs Castillo.
Three of those 4 fights were close, with a bad scorecard makes it look like the winning fighter had to get knocked out twice to lose. I thought Malignaggi-Diaz was not close, I had Malignaggi winning comfortably.

ROUND_____1__2__3__4__5__6__7__8__9__10__11__12__TOTAL
Mayweather_10_10_10_10_10_9__9__9__10__9___9___9___114
Castillo_____9__9__9__9__9__9_10_10__9___9__10__10___112
Notes:
- I did think Mayweather won the first 5 rounds by clean, effective punching while avoiding most of Castillo's pressure and shots. If you were to give any of these rounds to Castillo you might give him rd. 3, which was the closest but I still think Mayweather took it.
- Castillo got a point deducted in round 6, Mayweather got a point deducted in round 10.
- The ref (Drakulich) wasn't as bad as the announcers made him out to be. Thought both point deductions were valid enough, though he might've trying to make up for the 1st call with the 2nd.
- The official scorecards were too wide for Mayweather (Anek Hongtongkam 116-111, John Keane 115-111, Jerry Roth 115-111)
- Who does everyone think won round 10? I think it's by far the most important close round. It tipped my scorecard from a draw to a Mayweather win.

I wish more idiot fight fans would take the time to the do the same.
I was at the Mayweather-Castillo I fight at the MGM Grand in Vegas. I didn't score the fight in person. While watching it live I thought it was a super close fight w/possibly Castillo winning.
I also took into account that although the fight was in Mayweather's adopted hometown, the crowd was still pro-Castillo. Even when Castillo missed, the Mexicans went WILD!
However, once I flew back home and watched the rebroadcast, I scored 115-113 Mayweather.
He clearly took the first five rounds in which Castillo did nothing but follow Floyd around and get hit. I remember Floyd landing an uppercut from like halfway across the ring. LOL!
The middle rounds were majority Castillo's; however, Mayweather won a few of those as well. Rounds 6-12 were not a whitewash for Castillo. If Floyd was already up 5-0 going into the 6th, and he won at least two more rounds after that, then all you have to do is the MATH.
People screaming about a robbery are one (or all) of three things:
1. Floyd STAN
2. Mexican
3. DUMBLast edited by Michael Hall; 06-21-2011, 07:09 PM.

exactly. Going by the judges cards you would have thought Mayweather dominated the fight, which simply wasn't the case in the second half of the fight. Castillo's problem was that his punches weren't as clean as Floyd's and despite landing more he still gave up 5 of the first 6 rds which makes it difficult to win any fight. If you scored one or two rounds from rds 6 to 12 for Mayweather the fight becomes a draw or a close win for Floyd.
But i class it as a robbery in the sense that it wasn't scored closely...but it's a bit like saying JMM was robbed vs MP in fight one, which again was a very close fight where no one would have protested if it went the other way.

but a pbf loss in the first fight may have altered the course of pbf's career; to something far more different and perhaps more meaningful than what he has today....
