According to Dan Rafael, due to contract issues. I was really looking forward to this matchup too...

Brandon Rios is an idiot.
Rios ducked Juan Diaz' challenge.
Diaz wanted to fight Rios, but Rios chickened-out, and instead is going to fight Soto's and Miguel Acosta's leftovers (Antillon).
Former IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Diaz (35-4, 17KOs) is gunning for a title shot against WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (27-0, 20KOs). In a recent interview with BoxingScene.com, Diaz announced his return to boxing after being away since July 2010. Diaz lost two of his last there fights, with two of those defeats coming at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez.
Brandon Rios also ducked John Murray.
Murray challenged Rios many times:
John Murray and Kevin Mitchell could be fighting for a shot at WBA world lightweight champion Brandon Rios when they meet next month.
but Rios chickened-out against Murray too.
Rios only called out Soto (to fight him next in the following 2 months), after Soto just had a 12 round grueling war with Antillon, while Rios had an easy fight against a BUM named Omri Lowther.
How convenient for Rios to want to fight Soto soon, after Soto had a tough fight while Rios had an easy fight, and ducked Juan Diaz and John Murray along the way.

It only took me about 2 minutes.
Nothing big, but the painfull truth, for you to swallow.
Its easy to find on the net.
Just type in the words: JUAN DIAZ BRANDON RIOS or JOHN MURRAY BRANDON RIOS , and you'll see that there are many sources that cited that they both wanted to fight Rios.
(but since Rios chickened-out, it never happened)
Rios is now gonna fight a wrecked/broken down has-been.
BTW, Acosta ducked Humberto Soto many times.
After Arum couldnt get the Edwin Valero to fight Soto, cause Valero was scared of Soto, Arum tried to get Acosta, as the scared-Valero's replacement to fight Soto, but Acosta was just as scared as Valero was to fight Soto.
So, Arum, ultimately got last minute replacement-Jesus Chavez (whom is NOT afraid to fight anyone, and was willing to fight Soto).
Soto is the most devasting fighter in the 135lbs-147lbs divisions.Last edited by MexicanPoster; 06-20-2011, 09:46 PM.Comment
