One thing that would help Canelo become a ppv draw is showcasing him to the people who buy ppv fights (as opposed to the ones who just watch HBO on sat nights). He has an amazing opportunity to expose himself to a ton of fans across the globe.

Headlining HBO is nice, but it doesn't mean you are a big name fighter. Chavez Jr. has headlined an HBO fight, as has Juan Diaz, and countless others who are not big names.

And I don't think Canelo is nearly as popular as you give him credit for. Popular guys like Cotto and Gatti fought on a few ppv undercards on their way up, as did JMM, sometimes Cotto and JMM and Gatti fought on undercards of non ppv fights on their way up.

Right.... Once gatti started selling 10-15k tix he didnt fight on ppv undercards neither did cotto. Canelo has alreadyfoughton non ppv undercards.

I overestimate his popularity? His hbo fights are far more watched than juan diaz's and he's a superstsar in mecico and very popular in cali.

i think the positives outweigh any "perceived" negatives Canelo might have. After all this PPV will do over one million for sure, that's good exposure for Canelo. Still i understand why he may not want to do it.

Money wise doest make sense. if canelo didt have the fan base he has now then it would make sense but he is passed that now. All its going to take to bring canelo to the next level is to fight one of the top dogs pick one

Canelo brings more people than Floyd in USA. Get Floyd to fight a bum in lets say Miami or LA. then have Canelo fight a bum in Miami or LA. See who gets more ppl in the crowd.
