Also, another point that no one brought up in this thread is the fact that Chavez Jr. headlines his own events and has done so for years. I have been to Mexico, and have talked to several fight fans there, and believe me.......Alvarez is by far the bigger name there.

His buzz is huge and GBP is and should be trying to making him a crossover star in the US. If I were handling him, I would start by making him headline cards in Texas and Cali were there are huge Mexican-American population in both states.

I personally feel if he can be a star amongst Mexican-Americans, he could easily do 800k plus headlining PPV events.

He's headlining hbo, he sells out every rom he fights in, he has a huge mexican following and his hbo fights are consistently in the highest rated hbo fight. We're talking more people watching him than 1 million ppv's.

      And he's 20 yrs old.

His waaaaaaay more popular than floyd was when floyd was 20.

He doesnt have to be a huge ppv draw right now, he's getting there and giving floyd probably a milly in the fans that he wpuld bring to the event spunds like a good business decision to you?

Im guessing you dont have a business.

If its such a good business model, please tell me why no other ppv star in history that i can remember did it on their way up when they were at the same level of popularity that canelo is now. Dont be the 5th poster in a row to ignore that question.

All he has to do is keep winning. The Mexican-American fan base is just dying to have a guy they can rally behind. Hopefully Oscar see this as Canelo has potential to be a huge star in the U.S.

I never said im on floyd's nuts you douche.

And whats better..being viewed by 1.5 mil as you said in US. or in undercard that beats all ppvs?

once canelo will entertain like floyd, come back.

Well he gets paid more by headlining hbo cards most likely or the same at worst, plus he probably gets a ridiculous deal in mexico. So he'd be taking a pay cut.

I think id stick to making more money and getting just as much exPosure by headlining hbo fights. He's guaranteed to be a ppv attraction.

Canelo entertains far more than floyd in the ring. Cant remember the last time i saw canelo get booed by the entire crowd for stinking out one of his fights. I can with floyd.

Who would pass up an opportunity to be on the undercard of the best fighter today?

Might Canelo be taking a small jab at Floyd? In my opinion, if he were smart, and had the fortitude, he could call Floyd out after a successful defense of his title. Use the marketing opportunity wisely.

InsteAd of makijg things up, why dont you actually respond to the bold. Who's making more money at age 20, floyd or canelo?

Why should canelo give floyd his money whej everyone on hbo and at gbp and in mexico is calling him a superstar? Oh, and he's getting blowijg up staples ij la when he fights there.

One thing that would help Canelo become a ppv draw is showcasing him to the people who buy ppv fights (as opposed to the ones who just watch HBO on sat nights). He has an amazing opportunity to expose himself to a ton of fans across the globe.

Headlining HBO is nice, but it doesn't mean you are a big name fighter. Chavez Jr. has headlined an HBO fight, as has Juan Diaz, and countless others who are not big names.

And I don't think Canelo is nearly as popular as you give him credit for. Popular guys like Cotto and Gatti fought on a few ppv undercards on their way up, as did JMM, sometimes Cotto and JMM and Gatti fought on undercards of non ppv fights on their way up.

I agree. IF he will keep entertain, people will buy it. 50$ is nothing for US. considering that it's 2nd boxing country with all the hard-core fans.
My point just was, imagine if he'd fight on Floyd's ppv undercard. Coming out as a champ in an undercard fight, rising champ without any ego. People would luv that kid right away, and his 1st ppv would of been high crazy.

Amir Khan is another example of a real popular fighter who often fought on undercards or co-headlined events.
