People just cant help to compare...but if fights like canelo vs a nobody or chavez vs a nobody keep on happening, boxing will suffer....i mean people keep on sayin canelo is too green to fight someone like martinez, but if he is a champion,he should fight a champion...couple of fighters cant carry boxing and may is not helping either!

Guess what, my favorite sport, boxing, ain't gettin' my $$$, I'm ordering that MMA PPV because I think Its gonna provide better entertainment, Now, how many fight fans do you think have the same way of thinking

#2 That's where you're wrong, buddy. UF*'s PPV #s have been consistently high compared to boxing(which comes down to two names, really)

Eventhough I consider myself to be a fight fan first, but, I lean towards boxing. The fact that MMA is that other option. My hard earned $$$ is definitely spreaded between the two. Now, if MMA hadn't come along, guess what, I'll probably end up buying up more boxing PPVs. How is that not forming a competition.

People who like watching fights but were born pre-UFC only had one option, boxing. Well, today, there's two areas of pro-fighting they can choose from. So, boxing is not getting the same attention as it used to. How is that not competing with each other.
The overlap between boxing and mma is something like 5-15%. It's minimal. This was studies from actual people who work for PPV.

First off boxing doesn't revolve around PPV's. A few guys in boxing revolve around PPV's. Boxing is so much different of a platform. I look at it as the UFC brand, and then in boxing the brand is the actual fighter. I like boxings platform far better. It's about the boxer, you know the guy doing all the hard work?

Secondly the UFC counts PPV buys from Canada, Australia, and the US. Boxing counts PPV's from the US, as in HBO PPV's. Throw in Sky PPV's from Britain and there is no contest.

I know people say all the time how much more popular the UFC is in the US then boxing, and it is bigger, but not to the extent Zuffa wants you to think. On a global scale the two aren't even in the same ballpark. It would be like comparing soccer to the NFL.

What trips me out is that I get on forums and read how wrestling may be ruining the sport and every highlight i ever see is a knockout by a punch. So it seems to me that most people like when they are standing up going toe to toe which is BOXING! But every MMA's argument is that boxing is just one aspect of fighting and that MMA love that it is an actual fight but everyone wants to see the guys in there going toe to toe.

I see where there last 2 cards did about 300K which is way down for them. I wonder how many PPV buys that would be if every Buffalo Wild Wings and every Hooters in the country didnt get it?

Also last night in Dallas the Strikeforce had 7900 fans. When an old Holyfield fought a truck driver in Dallas, I believe it did about 10K a few years ago.

I don't know **** about MMA but I'll say one thing about boxing. If you are just getting into the sport these next 5 months are arguably(if they stay on schedule)the best 5 months in maybe a decade or longer.

          The Super Six Championship
          Bantam Finals
          Haye V Wlad
          Adamek V Vitali
          Floyd V Ortiz
          Hopkins V Dawson
          Bute V Pavlik
          Cotto V Margarito
          Pac V JMM3
          Khan V Judah
          Maidana V Guerrero

Those are just the top tier fights. Still waiting on opponents from Gamboa, Martinez, Bradley, Donaire. Plus all the mid tier fights. It's a great 5 months.

Photomane MMA is not fading. Back your statement up. MMA is growing. UFC brings in more money than boxing and wwe combined. Do your homework. I love boxing first but MMA is not going anywhere.

UFC's recent PPV's have been getting around 200-300 thousand buys. Not sure what consistnat numbers you are talking about sir.

I don't think it's fading but it certainly isn't growing(believe majority of their last 10 ppvs have done in the 200-400k buys). Last I checked their ppvs really have leveled out. I highly doubt UFC bring in more money either. Maybe in the United States but not globally. Even question the United States because the gates in boxing are pretty high.

Is that right...... Back that statement up...

With all the boxing going on around the world, you think the UFC is bringing in more money? That's laughable.

boxing forums/websites is the only time i hear people talk about mma in the last 3 years or so. sometimes i see signs outside of bars that say they're showing ufc. other than that, i never hear anything about it in passing and dont know anyone personally who watches it.
