  • Floyd isn't going to show up

    From the LA Times: http://lat.ms/mQxtAv

They may not be heading to a boxing ring together, but the legal fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. intensified Thursday.

An attorney for Mayweather informed Pacquiao's attorney that Mayweather does not plan to show up as requested for a deposition at a Las Vegas law office.

Pacquiao is suing Mayweather and his father for defamation over defamatory statements claiming that the Filipino star has used performance-enhancing drugs to become the world's top pound-for-pound fighter.

"We're anxious to get to trial and, as a result of this, we'll be seeking a default judgment to win the case by default in the upcoming weeks," Pacquiao attorney Daniel Petrocelli said. "This is just ducking a deposition."

Attempts to reach Mayweather and his attorneys Thursday were unsuccessful.

Petrocelli said a Nevada judge denied Mayweather's emergency appeal to avoid the deposition, in which Petrocelli will have the chance to ask Mayweather to explain what the attorney said has been "a steady stream of false and defamatory statements" alluding to Pacquiao as a user of performance-enhancing drugs.

Later Thursday, Petrocelli said he received a letter from Mayweather attorney Mark Tratos saying the boxer would not appear at the deposition Friday because he planned to appeal the order for him to be there.
"Even if you appeal, it doesn't mean you don't show," Petrocelli said. "This kind of appeal would never be granted; this is about gathering routine discovery."

Mayweather is expected to be in Los Angeles on June 27 to begin a national press tour ahead of his Sept. 17 welterweight title fight against world champion Victor Ortiz of Ventura.

i guess being found liable of defamation and having to wire transfer millions of dollars to settle means more to Floyd than showing up for a thirty minute deposition
just as how it meant more to floyd in paying the 1mil$ per pound over the catchweight (against marquez) then coming in at the agreed catchweight

Pac has no case against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Now uncle roger and his dad maybe so. But not Floyd Jr. Now when the peds were brought up all the *******s said *****s became Ped Experts. Now the defamation case is brought up and all the *******s have become Lawyers lol go figure.

considering *****s have been the ones throwing these accusations around never leaving any doubt that pac is juicing, i expect them to help the mayweathers win their case.

I don't understand why a ******* wouldn't wanna pacquiao to take the tests. it's their chance to prove Pac is all natural.

I would never run to the court system if a boxer I am supposed to fight was talking ****. If Pac wasn't such a moron, he would have taken the tests and then sued Floyd. Name me one fighter in history that tried to sue another without trying to kick his ass first. This lawsuit is ridiculous and could have been cleared up a looooooonnnnnng time ago by Pac. I'm not cosigning it at all.
Floyd is being sued for slander. Contrary to the uneducated opinions on these boards slander is kind of a big deal. Just because floyd doesn't like being sued doesn't mean he can ignore the lawsuit and expect it to magically disappear. Of course pacs lawyers are playing hard ball, what did u expect? From the sounds of it, it looks like he judge is getting tired of the bull****. This case is gonna get resolved one way or another. If floyd did NOHING wrong, then he s got NOTHING to worry about. This whole case is just a joke anyway, right?

U do know 8 ounce gloves are standard for a welterweight fight right? U are also aware that 147 is the limit and floyd has cheated the scales before didn't he?

So let me get this straight, ur mad because pac wanted to fight with the standard 8 ounce gloves and not pillows? Ur also mad that he insisted floyd honor the 147 pound limit and not cheat like he did against jmm? Are u also pissed pac wanted to fight in a standard size ring and not he 24 foot basketball court floyd wanted?

So pac wanted a standard 147 pound fight...wow what a ******* he is...

Exactly, Wendy's would get the hell sued out of them and forced to pay millions in damages. Manny Pacquiao's brand is a huge corporation, so this is no different.
Exactly. Some of he bafoons on here seem to think law suits should be settled in a ring. Is it any wonder america is falling apart? The education system is falling this country's youth in a big way

Oh so nooow Pac wants everything standard. So what was standard about a 145lb catchweight with cotto for cotto's title? What was standard about a 154lb title fight at 150 lbs? You *******s I swear are so full of ****. Completely ignore all of Pac's bull**** but are quick to point out others. Oh and Floyd has never weighed in over 147 at welterweight. In FACT his last two fights he's weighed in at 146 so Pac had no case in asking for $10 million per pound penalty. You *******s FAIL at life!!

Pac filed his case almost 2 years ago. He can't add **** to his case. And how is he gonna prove damages? Because of the Clottey fight? LOL Noone wanted to see that garbage. But the fact that Margs and Mosley did over 1 million throws that **** out of the window. The fact that some people are coming to Pac's defense saying he shouldn't have to take a tests throw that **** out the window. Man Pac has no case.

                  LOL
When did a ******* or pac fans for that matter wouldn't want Pac to take the test?
The court case is in fact the chance for you *****s to provide proof that Pac is roiding so why are you all against it?
                  Take the case floyd!
Prove it since you don't want to fight Pac anyway.

I don't understand why a ***** would support Floyd for suddenly demanding a smaller guy to take a test and not think that Floyd wasn't afraid to fight him. If Pac was busted before, then demanding an OST makes sense. But he's always been clean. So demanding a test and then going on record accusing him of taking "power pellets" just shows that Floyd is afraid or at least threatened by the smaller man.

Actually to be fair, most *****s have already turned on Floyd. There's only a few die hards left.

Floyd came in 146lbs, 2lbs over the CONTRACTED weight of 144lbs against Marquez, that's why he had to shell out a couple or so millions to pay of Juan for the extra poundage....
