Actually, steroids were far more prevalent in most major sports in the 80s than they are now. It's easier to not get caught, but everyone was juicing back in the 80s.

That's funny. I never supported Hagler's stance of calling out welterweights to come to him instead of chasing a big fight with a great light heavyweight by the name of Michael Spinks. Maybe if roids had been around back then, he would have been game.

Hagler is one of my favorite fighters no doubt but your on to something HIT. If your gonna call out and fight fighters coming up you should also go up and fight a fighter. Hagler was definitely top best middle-wt of all time but b he needed to at least go up to 168. I think Spinks wold've crushed him @ 175 but he should've went up to 168.

name me another athlete, another sport that the athlete can dictate what tests his opponents should take?

can you imagine roger federer telling rafa nadal, hey im not gonna play you unless you take the tests I WANT YOU TO TAKE.

can you imagine michael jordan, tom brady, or any serious all time great athlete being so insecure, so lacking in confidence that they would refuse to play their rival if their rival dont doesnt agree to HIS TESTING DEMANDS? What kind of athlete does that?

That's a terrible analogy. Boxing is a totally different sport. Each fight is different. Each fight negotiation includes petty stuff like type of glove, size of glove, size of ring, weight limits, rehydration weights, etc. Fighters negotiate in favor of their strengths all the time. If u are a puncher that likes to fight in your opponents chest, you'll negotiate for a certain glove type and ring size. And so on and so on. A better analogy would be Jordan dictating the distance of three point line to favor his perimeter skills. Or Brady dictating the size of the ball to favor is passing skills. Asking for drug testing that both fighters would undergo is a fair request in such an individually negotiated sport. Until boxers have a salary cap or apparel licensing agreements as a whole, you can bury that weak "insert Football or Basketball players name for comparison" routine.

its fitting that it was tyson who also asked for extra testing. mike new holyfield was the best fighter he ever faced up to that point & he was insecure & scared of losing to holyfield just like floyd is to pac.

Hagler was very good middleweight that fought in an era of great welterweights and capitalized on it. Look at his best wins. Hearns, blown up welterweight. Duran, blown up lightweight. SRL (although he technically lost), blown up welterweight. I look at him much the way I did B-Hop prior to the Tarver fight. Before Tarver, if not for a golden era of welterweights, B-Hop would have been nothing more than a former RJ victim that feasted on RJ's leftovers. If not for the great welters of Hagler's time, how would he be remembered?

I think Hagler's well aware of all the stipulations between Pac/May negotiations. He's a fighter; I bet he still discusses boxing with people who knows more about inside boxing than any member of this site.

He just expresses his opinion and if you don't like it, tough luck.

First time he fought a plain faced cheater. Also, Was Pac Cotto's employer? Cotto was forced to defend his belt @ 145 because of Pacs demands.

No boxer should dictate another boxer what to do ...unless its Pac!!

Just to enhance your memory, Toprank promotion both handle pacquiao and cotto, so there is negotiation regarding what weight they are supposed to fight. If Cotto does not agreed to fight pac at 145, there would be no fight. As simple as that.

As for the NSAC commission, they handle what procedure are they going to undergo. Boxing is under by NSAC so I think there's no argument about that.
