Rather then reading Pelullo's excuse why he couldn't secure a fight with Martinez, I'd like to hear why he didn't secure Pirog's mandatory defense against Martirosyan on ESPN. This, at least, would give Pirog the desired exposure necessary to get some more recognition.

Instead his promoter Titov (Pelullo is his manager as far as I understand) again stages the mandatory defense in Russia. Additionally I have heard no date yet, which really doesn't show much quality of his team/promoter/ manager.

Pirog is my favourite fighter, but he should pull the trigger and fight more frequently!!

I would have preferred Pirog over Barker because I never really heard of Barker and Pirog has somewhat of a name that has been circling around. Not believing Martinez is ducking a guy that has one prospect win under his belt when Sergio fought some of the best guys for 2 years. On top of that. Pirog wasn't looking stellar against his last opponent. Sergio Martinez is the best in and around his division.

As far as I know the Barker fight has not been signed so I hope it falls through and Pirog can happen.

That could most definitely be the case.

Unfortunately, Martinez is pre-occupied with chasing smaller men like Mayweather and Pacquiao

up until martinez fought kermit cintron to a draw 5 fights ago, who has he fought besides margarito, who he lost to? martinez's last 5 fights equate to 3-1-1 record...look up his opponants prior to cintron and you basically have guys i/u/most people havent heard of except for margarito...and this equates to P4P top 3? you take away both fights against williams and 99% of martinez's opponants are a bunch of unheard of duds.

Sergio is fighting Darren Barker. Doesn't that throw all the arguments about not fighting Pirog completely out the window?

why do people defend duckers? martinez doesn't want to fight pirog and his excuses and recent opponents are comical. martinez is another cherry picker making easy money because of hbo and the ****** fans who support him.
