doubt this will get criticism, cotto/margs II will be entertaining for sure...

Did pretty good in Mexico. Not a fair comparison considering both are from a different location. What's Cotto's biggest PPV besides Pac? They both need each other to make the dance work son.
Sure, he can target it all he wants but don't act like Steward made such a big improvement on Cotto......He still sucks against uppercuts, has weak defense, can't fight for shit still moving backwards, gets tired quickly, mentally weak at this point.
So keep going from what your heart tells you cause it's going to be even sweeter when reality hits you nationalistic stans hard.Comment

Alright, I'll bite.
When talks of this fight started surfacing in 2011 (specifically), I had no doubt that the anticipation of the fight (once it was signed) would be massive.
However, given how both have gone on to take a fair amount of punishment, it is very safe to say both fighters are not what they once were.
Cotto is 4-1 (3 KO's) since his loss to Antonio.
Margarito is 1-2 since his victory over Cotto. These weren't so-so losses. These were brutal, nasty losses. He was "power-boxed" (whatever the hell that means) by Mosley and then knocked out, got into a scandal, was suspended for a year, got back in the ring and looked good (but not great) against a mediocre fighter, and then for no reason whatsoever, got a shot at Pacquiao and was bludgeoned.
Cotto should, once again, come in as the favorite. Cotto doesn't fight well with fighters that are constantly coming in as he tends to waste a lot of energy moving around on his toes and he isn't the sort of fighter who fights the same in the last 4 rounds as he does in the beginning. I thought for sure Margarito would've shown some debilitation in his chin against Pacquiao (given his wars with Cotto and Mosley) but he still showed his chin was very much still there and, more than anything, he showed his massive heart despite losing that fight very badly.
Margarito will most likely still have his chin since he doesn't rush into punches and his style means that he is prepared to get hit a lot so he braces himself. His heart will undeniably be there when the fight comes. What I've always wondered (and I'm glad many are seeing it now) is that despite all these factors that Margarito brings to the table, will he be allowed to carry on even if he has eye issues during the fight (bleeding, cuts, bones break, etc.)
I can guarantee you that if something like what happened in Arlington happens in NY, the ref will not allow the fight to continue. Laurence Cole is insane. That was an ugly busted up eye.
Will his face hold-up as he wears down his opponent as is usually the case?
THAT'S the burning question.
Margarito can do it, but given his injuries and the lay-off, Cotto has a better chance at evening the score.
I'll be objective, however, and state that it BECAUSE of Margarito's state, the win won't be anywhere near significant as it could've been in 2008.Comment

Sure buddy. My life was ruined cause I didn't get a fucking signature from a boxer. Jeez what an idiot! What the hell would an autograph do for me? Not jack shit idiot.
You want to know something else? Apart from the Margarito fight, I've practically cheered for Cotto to win. From Mosley to Judah to even Pac.Comment

yes cotto wasted energy transitioning between offense and defense. hopefully he can balance it out better this time and preserve his energy.
i think it was kind of inspiring to see margarito stay in there and refuse to quit and continue on. he was actually trying to win the whole time too, except for maybe the 12th round, he was just too spent. laurence cole is sadistic, he should have stopped that fight around the 9th - knowing that no way margarito was going to give the slightest indication he wanted to quit.
yeah the fight certainly doesn't have the implications of the first fight, so it doesn't really mean as much. but it will give either cotto or margarito a chance at personal redemption.Comment
