Whitaker beat Chavez, and it wasn't close. He unequivocally owned him.

As the other posters stated, Whitaker would make anyone look bad. He was the worst possible style matchup for Chavez so props to him for taking that fight instead of cherry picking an easier opponent. But yeah, bad decision.

Chavazs limitations were exposed long before Pea got to him. If Pea had power he would nt ever had developed into the boxer he did. When you are knocking people out, you evolve into a different boxer.
Its because he didnt have power he became what he did, same for Floyd mayweathe and BH. And hundreds of other ATG fighters.

Not saying chavez could beat whitaker but you're ******ed if you think that was the best version of chavez he had nearly 100 fights, had many many life or death wars in the ring and sweet P was young and fresh.

I can't believe the people who try and justify the draw. There's no argument for it. Sweet Pea won easy.

Chavez was awful that night, no doubt about it. While it wasn't when most would have preferred it, it was still a VERY quality fight and a Whitaker truly won the fight.

It made both look limited to a certain extent. It showed Whitaker's utter lack of power, considering that he hit Chavez with everything in the arsenal. It also showed Chavez' inability to deal with fast boxers who boxed him.

Still, two great fighters.
