Floyd is the exception not the rule. He's hardly an ATG top 50.

HOF and fringe top 15 HW.

Most people thought Lewis had a glass chin through his career.

RJJ had questions about his beard.

a lot of these guys really don't know what is considered at Weak Chin, they think because Mosely rocked Mayweather...all of a sudden Mayweather has a "WEAK CHIN" or because Gamboa was dropped a few times during some of his matches "HIS CHIN IS A LITTLE SUSPECT"...your chin cannot be considered "WEAK" when you are able to RECOVER quickly from those blows

My point is that a fighter should not be slammed because they have a questionable chin.

          Or written off.

A chin is as strong and as good as how long you protect it. If you can take a punch and you constantly get hit then you will eventually soften up that forcefield around your chin.

            Eg. Vasily Jirrov.

On the other hand a glass jaw should deter you from boxing. You should let a friend or neighbor punch you to measure your odds of becoming a boxing superstar.

There's more. an average/questionable should be protected at all times (like the people you mention). Defensive boxing is highly recommended.

You can still be a good fighter but sooner or later it's going to be exposed.

You don't need one per se.

Let's take Tommy Hearns and Terry Norris for example.

But, history tell's us it is very very very important to have a good chin.

Floyd Patterson did not have a glass chin. It was just a normal chin. The same with Vlad.
