Ortiz might very well become a champion again and have a great career, so we'll see.

Yes he might be, but he is not in his prime now, and has shown he is a couple of level below an elite fighter.

Do we give credit to Margarito for beating an elite fighter in Martinez?

Ortiz is a world champion, and is coming of the best win of his career. I think he's in his prime or very close to it. Come on now.

Martinez was not a world champion. Martinez did not have any good wins. He was untested and had only fought bums in Argentina before he fought Marg.

      Two COMPLETLEY different cases.

        Corrie Sanders over Wlad?

Was Wlad in his prime then?

Ofcourse Ortiz is not in his prime, still very green.

"green" fighters do not become world champions, a "green" fighter would not be able to beat Andre Berto.

Wlad was close to his prime, he had already been a world champ.

Of course they hate him, he ruined one of their prospects in a KO that wasn't supposed to happen...

Dead mans eyes was his name.

Wlad was nowhere near his prime then.

              Berto was far from special

Cleverely is world champion, I suppose he is in his prime as well.

Legacy IS public perception. Pacquiao could've fought Ortiz if he wanted to but he didn't, and we all know why.

Ortiz was questionable until he showed everyone he can get back up from some crazy knockdowns and come right back up to win the fight. Berto dropped Ortiz with better shots than Maidana.

Years down the road depending on how Ortiz ends up, people are going to use hindsight and rate Mayweathers legacy. It's like when he beat Baldomir. At the time it was his best win. Years later after all that is said and done with Baldomir's career, people try to discredit it.

Who else could he have fought? Oh him? Really? Take the tests.
