Ortiz is explosive and has more power, better stamina and workrate.

Cotto is the better skilled boxer, more focused with a bigger heart.
I have to give a shout out to you having Randy Savage as your avatar. I haven't been that upset about the death of a celebrity in quite a long time. Macho Man was one of my favorite wrestlers throughout my life, and he single-handedly makes sitting through any graduation ceremony more bearable because of the memories Pomp and Circumstance brings.

People who come into a welterweight fight in great shape and 13 pounds heavier than they weighed at the official weigh-in the day before certainly do not belong in the 140 pound division. It's almost a certainty at this point that weight drain issues contributed to his poor performance against Peterson, if not other fights that happened previous to that.

Bingo. Ortiz's only question mark is his heart. Everything else, he is top-rank as far as I can see. He just needs to realize it himself!

WTF Cotto is shot, stop acting like he isn't.

Let's define two terms that can describe a boxer in the time after they leave their prime:

Shot - Showing up and being incapable of putting up a remotely credible fighting effort. See Mike Tyson in the fights before he lost twice to Holyfield.

Past Their Prime - Having one or more aspects that made a fighter as good as they were during their prime being slightly diminished, decreasing their performance by a noticeable margin, but not rendering them incapable of fighting well anymore. See Mike Tyson in his fights after he lost twice to Holyfield.

People usually the word shot to describe boxers so *******ly is probably my number one pet peeve about fans of the sport... the common tendency shared by so many of them to write a fighter off after one or two less than perfect performances... .

At this stage, and at 147 pounds (the weight Mayweather currently fights at!!!) Ortiz is probably better than Cotto. Cotto is at 154 pounds right now, and hasn't had a tough fight since MP. Not to mention he got beat up by Manny, Margarito and Clottey (even though he won that). Throw in some other rough fights at 140 and he's almost ready to call it a day.

Let's be real, we all know if Floyd signed to fight Cotto at 147 today, he would just get accused of draining Cotto and fighting damaged goods.

The bigger question is why he never fought, or sought to fight Cotto or Margarito.

              Both a level above Ortiz.

Floyd seems to like fighting C level fighters.

Which is why it is so lame that Mayweather Jr. picked to retire after the Hatton fight before fighting Cotto, which was literally the one fight on the welterweight radar that REALLY mattered at the time. Both were undefeated, in their primes, ranked one and two at 147 and were both included on The Ring's P4P list.

Blah, that really was the first fight that Floyd did not take in his career that I considered to be detrimental to the assessment of his resume. By not fighting Cotto, he missed a big opportunity to get the best win of his career most likely (I do think I'd place it above Corrales and Castillo, which I regard as his top two right now).

Skills pay the bills. Cotto has the skills, Ortiz doesn't. All I want to see is a good fight and Cotto deserves it

I give ortiz 0 chance to win this fight. this fight is a joke. Only good thing though is that floyd is fighting again.
when you say he is fighting again.....i hope you understand he's going to fight then go in hiatus for a year + so that means......he'll be getting older and very less likely to fight pac.
