Is Ortiz being over-rated due to his win over Berto?

good post, without all the bs bashing.

Ortiz is very inexperienced, he's only had 2 title fights (losing one of them). Compare that to Floyd who's had about 20 title fights. Ortiz has never fought on anything like this stage before, so it will be interesting to see how he handles that.

I personally don't think Ortiz will give much problems to floyd even if he still has that same fire he did against berto. One reason is he doesn't use a good jab and although it's not the only way to get inside against floyd, I think for him it would be the most efficient way. If he doesn't use a good strong jab against floyd he's going to be walking into counters and traps all night. I just don't see how he can win unless floyd is reeeaaally rusty.

But we have to realize Ortiz is the best opponent at welterweight besides Pacquiao. The division has kinda turned to crap over time with cotto leaving, margarito getting ****d, shane is out, clottey is MIA, there really isn't anyone else. Either floyd moves up in weight and fights Martinez or he fights Ortiz.

So it is what it is. A good, solid fight for Floyd, hopefully a tune up for Pac. Is Ortiz ready for a fight with Mayweather or Pacquiao? Most likely not but he's in the right place at the right time.

Victor Ortiz was never overrated. He quickly showed how many leagues ahead of Berto he was. It's a joke to even think that Victor Ortiz is a little bit overrated. He will kill Gayweather and you who bash him will be hanging on his nuts like the fake boxing fans you are.

Thing is, MANY here were writing Pac off against Marg saying that Margarito was too big and strong and how Mosley looked in top shape and was too fast and packed too much of a punch for Pac. They werent great matchups, but who else out there besides Floyd would have been viewed as a legit fight for Pac? Who here is giving Ortiz much of a shot against Floyd?

Floyd on the other hand has options. He could have gotten serious about fighting Pac and had Haymon call Bob to try and set something up instead of just repeating that Pac needs to take the test in an attempt to look like he really wants the fight. He could have set up a fight with Martinez @ 154 who's been calling him out for months.

Bullshit, that's why Pac was the heavy favorite in both fights.

What makes Ortiz a legit fight is that he is fresh. He's a young fighter with determination and was impressive vs Berto. Even someone like Miguel Cotto now isn't fresh anymore. He's suffered two beatdowns and many more people would rather see Ortiz fight Mayweather than Cotto.

Ortiz has improved since his loss to Maidana and is clearly a better fighter at 147. I don't think TS would be complaining if Pacquiao was fighting Ortiz

                Whoa.

These fights happened literally months ago, no one is going to forget how badly was Margarito and Mosley being written off. You're saying the other way around like people are actually going to believe that. Wait till like 50 years to lie to your grand kids about how Pacquiao was a 15-1 underdog against Margarito and Mosley. Don't lie to people that are on here frequently and know very well that what you said is a lie. Either that or you pay too much attention to a small Margarito/Mexican fanbase and disregard what boxing fans in general think.

I'm not claiming that Pac wasnt the favorite in those fights. I know he wasnt. All i'm saying is that many people felt Pac would get hurt against both bigger stronger men.

Lets try to stay on topic now. Floyd fighting Ortiz has nothing to do with what Pac has done. What's your opinion on the thread topic?

Martinez has actually been calling out Pacquiao way harder than Mayweather. Martinez talks about Floyd with respect, while he bashes Pacquiao and has no respect for what he's been doing lately.

And why can't Arum contact Haymon, why can't Pacuiao fight Martinez too?

Man, you are like all backwards right now. I know you don't post here often, so I understand you seem real lost. You sound like a horribly misinformed casual fan. No offense.
